Why is it so difficult to admit that there are a group of strong teams, and then levels below that? Oh I know. Because yourkid isn't in the upper level. So we must be forced to listen you slam the existence of "better" because your kid doesn't participate at that level. Since your kid doesn't play at the highest level, you react by sticking your head in the sand and deny that there is a level beyond where your kid plays. You sound like the Iraqi Information Officer who broadcast from Baghdad studio that no US troops were in his city while US tanks rolled by outside.

It sounds like you aspire to mediocre. You must be happy then. You've reached your goal.
Actually, my kid was at PDA this weekend; however, I have no need to denigrate those who were not.

This quote really represents a KnuckleHead of a parent living through their child. Just because their "Childs Team" won a few soccer games they feel they have the right to look down on others whose children are on teams they deem to be on a lower level. How pathetic of a person. What a warped sense of reality.

I felt the Needham tournament was well run this year from what I saw. All games started on time. Reffing was better than Maple games I saw this year. It felt like a great community event that represented everything that is good about youth.

The best part of the Needham Tournament is I also got to play golf every day. I aspire to be mediocre because I am well below that. I am happy I am able to be out playing, the goal is to play and enjoy and live.

I've always liked Needham. Usually a well run event with decent competition. Kids get to play some games to stay fresh leading up to State Cup without going broke in the process. The best part is that I get to go home and still have time to spend with the rest of my family after the games. For those who wish to travel to other venues, I wish them good luck and success.

Nah, I wouldn't have mentioned it at all if you weren't such an egotistical jerk.

Its always been a decent run tourney but Needhams biggest problem is the field quality .Some of the fields have been horrible over the years, and a lot of times you get the worst field in a semi or final. If Delta continues its relationship with Lancaster Needham could be in trouble.I also wouldnt call PDA a big money tournament, you can go there for under $400 easy.Well worth it IMO.

Its not that its hard to admit its just we dont act like an @sshole about it.

You dont need to "play at the highest level" to be successful sh!t for brains.

Keep in mind that someone better than your Mia is out there and one day she will call you crying because someone else stole her spot and you will get all grumpy and be forced to make a pathetic call on her behalf because "how could this ever happen coach? I mean she played at PDA..."

                      God help your child.

Actually, you are 100% wrong. The comment about the Needham competition was true: The competition was on the weaker side.

Is the Needham tournament fun? Yes.
Is the Needham tournament well run? Yes.

My comment had nothing to do with looking down on anyone.

As for the "warped sense of reality", I would argue that this exists in those that refuse to acknowledge that there are different levels of play in any sport, academic subject, or any other area that requires skill and talent.

What is pathetic is those that try to compare a mid level performance to a high level performance, simply because their kid is at the mid-level performance stage.

Perhaps you should apply the same sense of logic about your golf game to your kid's soccer participation.

Where was this comparison and so what if their kid is at a mid level.

What is completely warped is your apparent belief that your Mia will be on the national team because she played "high level"

First nothing you have said in your reply has changed my opinion but thanks for keeping the discussion going.

The realty you fail to see either out of ignorance or inexperence is that none of the players feel they are not important, and they are all working hard to win. Your comments have the stink of elitism which is so offensive.

Some of the games had some of the best players in the state playing, I would say some were playing for the joy of the game rather than some magical rating systems which will help their parents find the holy grail of soccer. There were members of the Framingham HS team playing as guests for a team. These boys could play and they have not had the means in their life to get a ride to ODP tryouts or play for a fancy pants team with matching backbacks. It was a joy to watch them.

My children do just fine thanks for your concern. They take great joy in beating me on the course.
