    Private Training

I am curious as to people's thoughts on private training. Is it worth the $$$? What is the most you would be willing to invest for your child?

You're not curious, you just read the thread on this subject on the other board.

$60-100 an hour? Get real. If you are not getting what you need then shame on your club. Also, if you call the coach and ask if you could get to practice early they should work with you. It will help the team and club in the long run.

Why do we need two forums to discuss the same subjects?

I have no problem with private training per se, If you have the cash to pay for it then that is your business. I do have a problem however, with players getting this one on one coaching from their current coach. This happens a lot, and can and has influenced decisions involving playing time. Or what is perceived as preferential treatment of said players. I dont know if clubs can institute a policy in this regard. Many times this coaching is done very privately, but when people find out about it, it causes problems within the team

Some clubs sell private training as an income maker for their coaching staff. There is nothing wrong with this but you need to assess the real value/benefit relative to your money. A clinic may be of more benefit and offer greater value. Some clubs bring in outside experts to do their clinics.

Some clubs have such a policy in place. Even if there is no favoritism, private training can create that appearance and should be avoided.

Has caused a lot of hard feelings at WU - see playing time thread.
