Lets remember it is not the young pioneer girls that are at fault here in anyway. the blame goes 100% to the club and "screaming uncle ed"

I agree, they have some good players- but when you are taught to "kick and run", that is what you do. The parents need to wake up and stop drinkining "Uncle's" kool-aid

The sophomoric dialogue here has become too aggressive towards this one coach. It is shows the shamefulness of a few to so bravely attack him verbally without the fortitude to then put a name to the hand that wrote it. It is painfully clear that these posts come from the neighboring club’s parental base or from those who have had the unfortunate negative result after a competitive match against this team. However, with that said it has been pre-established within this forum that the side line behavior of this particular coach is by no means unique yet continues to be at the center of what appears to be adolescent behavior at best. The opportunity to participate within the sport is far too great for the players or parents to be confined to this one particular coach or club. If the situation is as monstrous as it is made to believed, then how does the team have success and retention? It is self evident that the players and parents have reason to believe in his management. As a colleague of the coach, I can assure you he would not teach a method of soccer that is haphazard at best. A review of his resume would support this argument. I would also suggest the idea of researching the club and its philosophy. It is evident that from the oldest age group to the youngest that defensive play must be of some importance. You will find this evidence at the league web site. Each age group currently participating in the fall season is currently at the top of the standings when it comes to conceding goals and in the overall standings. I present to you that perhaps this club’s building blocks start with a defensive mind set to combat that of the more skilled clubs mentioned previously. I do hope we all agree the concept of offensive skills and tactical development continues through the ages. A choice by one to focus their development in one area of the game versus another is the coach or club’s discretion not of the parents of an opposing team. When in the time of debate a question of importance is asked we should go to the primary source for the answer. Again I suggest that we ask the coach, club or parents if the concept of “kick and run” is in fact part of the development or the consequence of other aspects being developed prior to the offensive strategy that is more common. The idea of a well thought out plan prior to action is sometimes more prudent. It was also pre-established in this forum that Maple is a “must win” league. To know and understand your station within in that environment is as important as the game itself.

You sound more like the DOC than anything. What you should do is take a better look at your club and its coaches. You yourself have mentioned that the club developes the teams to combat the"other more skilled clubs"! Are you kidding? Try to develope them correctly and this bashing doesn't happen. You are absolutley correct that the sideline behavior is wide spread and in no way restricted to your club! Although that U13 coach is pretty bad! I am sure Mr. ED is a fine fellow don't know him only the style on the field...and BTW I am a parent just not a Western Mass parent...it just goes to show you they aren't the only ones that see it.

It mentions they start with a defensive mind set to combat other teams. This is where most soccer clubs start. Than you develop from there.

People only read what they want to see on these posts. It's pretty sad. Every team out there has their issues, but it always comes back to the pioneers. Does anybody have anything different to say?

you don't understand development soccer, if the kids are not being taught footwork in practice then they will never have any. they should be taught the skills at practice and then use the games to try it at speed and in competition. their kick and run practices and games are useless.

You're right- every team does have their issues, however the perception of the Pioneers is not a good perception as stated in numerous posts (not only in this U12 string).

I wouldn't say those practices are useless. They will be in great shape to join the track team if soccer doesn't work out

read again! This time finish the sentence. He is saying they have decided to teach defense to combat the more skilled clubs. And yes defense, tackling and tactics are important. But if that is how you want to develop young players please re-evaluate. You are doing the sport a great disservice.

Looks like they'll get promoted, but they'll go right back down.

They are a very solid team and were encouraged to play good soccer when we faced them twice last season. Coach does a real nice job.
