Say what you will about other aspects of his coaching, but DC is an excellent practice coach. Top 10 % of anyone I have seen in running a well designed practice.

That's well and good. Great practices are highly important. More important than the game in my opinion. However is you son learning good values from this coach? Like it or not, coaches are not just soccer trainers, they help instill sportmanship, character and values in our kids.

...and will your son be on the team next year? How will he feel if he gets cut or relegated to B after an undefeated year?

I agree 100%. Great young high energy coach. Great training facilities, BU/MIT/Fessenden School.

I do believe that DC could be a very good coach and runs very good training sessions. I think much of this thread has to do with flaws in some of the fundamental aspects of coaching that have to do with sportsmanship and personality issues.
In this regard, it would APPEAR as though DC is not doing as well with the sportsmanship aspects....

His team is not about development of players for anything more than 1 year. Even if the team does very well, he will cut or move you to another team if he sees a better player out there and succeeds in recruiting him.
You would be very lucky if your son moved to the b team.

With regard to recruiting, he moved half (at least 6 players) from his last years A team to the B team and recruited nine more players! Top players from other clubs including Bolts and FC Hammer.
Very smooth, aggressive and cutthroat recruiter. And this is only U10/U11!! Cut several players from last years A team and didn't have the courtesy to let them know. Shameful.
What top players?? Obviously, he recruited players that didn't make the Revs or Bolts Academy...

The poster was talking about DC/Blazers recruiting top players in the U10 and U11 age group by very aggressive, unscrupulous recruiting. Bolts and Revs academy doesn't start until U15/U16.

While we all have a right to our opinions on this topic....and should state them as it is our right, I would be interested in hearing from the parents of Abbey Villa B....or better yet, their kids to see what they thought of the trouncing.
If they didn't care, then should we???

The second question is for the 'alpha male' team and coach. The question is simple: Should you run up the score? How much should you let the other team bleed? When animals are playing and one realizes that they have won, they don't go for the kill......they have already won. They don't need to make the other dog bleed. For the Blazers/DC/FO and, on another thread, Stars and JD......are you better than an animal??
This is idiotic. You can't compare a game with a set time limit to animals fighting in the wild.

I guarantee that these coaches who were winning by so much moved players around, had them pass to every player before shooting, etc. There is no way to make the losing team feel better about the situation. It is a problem with the league and the coach of the weaker team for even entering the division.

Does it matter? Treat others as you would like to be treated. (Especially) at this age, this is reprehensible behavior unbecoming of a U11 club coach. Then hearing about the other things he has done shows the true nature of his character.

Get off of this guys back! He's a great young coach. One of the better ones in this state. Sorry he's not touchy feely enough for some of you. This seems to be a concerted effort over a long period of time to drag this coach down. Does sombody have an agenda here? Grow up people, find a hobby outside of character assasination. I bet your neighbors on Wisteria Lane dont have a clue what little people you really are.

You're right. We should leave him alone while continues to STOMP on everyone but his team (well, at least until the end of the year when he cuts half his team because he found better players and succeeded in recruiting them).

correct. you should leave him and his team alone. These were his decisions, their game, and it will be their season. Unless you are one of the parents of the team that got trounced, you should just stay out of it. Other than not taking your own child to a team that DC is coaching (your loss) or the club that he coaches for, there is little else that you can do. If MAPLE has not penalty for this then it is over.

Wrong. Different poster here. This is a forum where such issues are (and should) be brought up. He should be exposed for the type of person he is so that others are at least aware (or are prepared for being dumped from the team even after having a fantastic, undefeated season). Like another poster said: BUYER BEWARE!
