Another example of the unintended consequences brought to you by the hijacking parents of youth sports.
Absolutley nothing is learned by either side , winners or losers, when these situations occur. We are talking about children here. Childhood USED TO BE about development, about letting children be exposed to the rigors, trials, and tribulations of real life, in small doses and measures that they could handle , understand , learn and prosper in.

Less than a generation ago, when children ran their own games, a game like this would have quickly been reorganized. No one would be having " fun " . The teams would trade a few players, until the balance became palatable and competetitive. Deep down , that's what children really want, and the lessons learned from the excercise of reorganizing the game on their own terms, is light years ahead of the environment they are forced to play in becasue of the meddling of adults.

cant even police the age groups nevermind trying to figure out who's playing out of their area. To say that a coach cannot stop their team from scoring is ridiculous. Our girls have been in this situation before and absolutely could have crushed the other team but coach refused. Any player who attempted to score was taken out of the game, offensive players played defense and vice versa and ball could not advance over midfield until the goalie played the ball to a defender. Was it great to watch? Not really but I would be ashamed to beat another team 16,17, or more to zero. The total lack of sportsmanship is appalling in youth sports. JMO 7 and 8 years old might get over it quickly but at 11 and 12 it is a tough pill to swallow

JD is the club, and he did nothing wrong!!!!!!!!! Why can't people see this???

this happens all over and some kids forget and some don't. what ever happens the parent is the one who is pissed!

Not many U10-U11 kids are on here moaning about what happened just parents.......

You get my vote for the biggest loser of the month. However, if you were to poll a random audience and find that more than 75% of them disagreed with you, would you then realize that there are better lessons for kids...and parents....to learn?
Kids are not on this forum probably because they know nothing about it, are too busy elsewhere, or are too embarrassed by such a beating.
The only lesson learned here is what a low-class act JD et al are.
This was a lost opportunity for the kids and parents to see humility, sensibility, and sensitivity. However, if you still feel the way you do, then I wish you well when you are ever in a moment or time of need.....I suspect you are such an ass, that few people will come to your aid.

DC's Blazers U11B Maple game this past weekend. Beat the Abbey Villa B team 19-0. Yes Ni

SHAME ON DC. If the Blazers want to earn respect from other clubs, this is NOT the way to do it. This is 5th grade for crying out loud.

DC is the same coach that was amid the discussion on how to let kids know that you were cut from the team you played with during the prior year.
He was formerly, a respected coach with the Bolts before moving to the Blazers with FO. Both coach at Boston University.
Beating a team that badly....more so at such a young age....has no place in competitive youth sports. Kids learn nothing from this.

Safe Haven for now

U11 Fall Maple is brutal. Always has been, always will be. Relegation will sort things out come spring, but then begins the clawing to stay in/get into "Blue".

We are in NEP now. Whew. Nice to be out of that pressure cooker.

NEP keeps you safe from this for now. What happens if NEFC and Bolts start putting their best teams in there? More of the same!

Ok great quotes and i think that this is a huge topic for the MAPLE board.

But what are we doing to the players that are good, if we teach them not to score not to have a killer instinct in front of goal, then "what if" one of these players gets a chance at a big school or a big team, I am sorry but other players will take their place as they had that killer instinct.

Why do you think that all these players from other countries are now playing in the states and that they can easily walk on our teams.

Yes it can be controled but please leave the coaches out of this, they are only doing what they think is best for their team/club. It is Mass youth soccer or MAPLE that should do something about it!

You are so wrong. Do you think those Stars and Blazers kids felt good after that game? What did it teach them? There are alternatives to make it work in a positive way for both teams as previous posters have mentioned- pass/shoot with less dominant foot, try doing moves you are weak at etc... The coaches are the main idiots here followed by MAPLE.

You can't leave the coaches out of it, at the end of the day, it is THEIR responsibility to make sure they do the right thing. Their players aren't getting much out of dribbling past the same player 20 times in a half or scoring 7 goals. Yes, MAPLE should deal with this, but the coaches are the ones with the control and this guy obviously isn't worried about the kids on his team or the other team and blew a good life teaching moment. If he thinks winning 16-0 is what "is best for his team" then he is a shallow mane spirited soccer obsessed person.

That's right. . . letting children be exposed so they can learn how to deal with it. That includes being beat handily in a sporting event.

This is part of what's wrong with the country today. Everyone needs to be overly sensitive and no one should feel uncomfortable.

Do you think when these kids (losing team) get older and get it handed to them in other areas of their lives (work, relationships, etc.) that they should expect everyone around them to start playing with one arm tied behind their back so it "evens the playing field"? What kind of a lesson is that to teach our kids.

Or if you are on the "winning team", would it be appropriate for your boss to say, "Well, Johnny, I like your spunk, but you know it's really not fair that you are our top salesman when Sarah is having so much trouble selling anything. I think you need to give up some of your sales, or slow down your pace, so she can fell good about herself."

Not everything in life is ice cream and puppies. . . some lessons are hard to learn, but valuable nonetheless.

That being said, discretely requiring off-foot touches, long shots or mixing offense and defense players are all acceptable in my book. At least the dominant teams players will have an opportunity to learn by seeing the game from a new/different perspective.

You are missing the whole point here. Both sides learned very little. In fact, it was a negative experience for both sides when it could have been a very positive one.
