Hamlets lost in semi-finals in overtime on a pk kick. Puma won the delta tournament (no real competition)

Didn't Puma lose a game and squeak games out against a D2 and maple D team? Must of been some sort of competition.

It seems Fuller Hamlets will have a turn over this tryout with the coach leaving. Any other teams expecting a turn over as the girls head to U-14?

i wouldn't say good, but certainly a chance.

stars will be first, after that it could go to anyone. Western United has traditionally played teams that are superior to Renegads tough, like scorps and stars. Fuller Hamlets are tough, i havent heard the rumors that others have about their problems, so i could be wrong, maybe they'll wilt.

i'd say second in the group is a toss up.

Watched MPS- Fuller game. Tough game in the rain. FH goalie made a major mistake. MPS had a hand ball in FH box not called and they scored. MPS 70% first half and only 10% of the game second in the second half. FH controlled the second half but could not finish.

Sachems won the Needham Tournament pretty easily - beat the Vermont State Cup Champs (Far Post) and the 2nd Stars, then totally dominated the 2nd Scorps team in the final. Competition wasn't amazing for them, but they looked good.

Sachems won the Needham Tournament pretty easily - beat the Vermont State Cup Champs (Far Post) and the 2nd Stars, then totally dominated the 2nd Scorps team in the final. Competition wasn't amazing for them, but they looked good.

Wow! Fuller Hamlets got completely dominated in D2 and they are doing well in the state cup! 13 year olds, you never know!

Fuller Hamlets were not dominated in D2. The games they did loose was by one point except when they lost to Nova 3-1. If they could drop at least three or four players and pick up a couple of finishers they could be back in the top four again. But they are going to explode because of the attitudes of the players.

Saw MPS U13s play yesterday. They are a solid team and they definitely surprised the U13 competition. Because they don't play MAPLE most parents don't have a clue who they are, where they are from, etc. and thus they look past them or think of them as an inferior team. In the Stars game the play was fairly even in the 1st half and the Stars had more control in the 2nd half. However MPS probably had 2/3 of the best scoring opportunities of the game. A tie was a fair outcome for how the game was played.

As a coach in the GU13 State Cup that has played all the teams here (with the exception of Renegades), here are my opinions on the top teams:
Scorpions - A couple of stud 1v1 players (#4 and #10). They do a great job of trying to isolate you 1v1, take advantage of those 1v1 skills, and get to goal as a result. Their overall team possession game isn't great, and their defense is vulnerable. Constant high pressure and double-teaming can cause them problems. But their studs can carry them to a championship.
Stars - A very well-coached and disciplined team. They are extremely predictable with their possession game (short-short-long/give-n-go leading to a diagonal through ball to their weakside striker), but they are very good with it. Again, high pressure, getting in the passing lanes, and not falling asleep weakside can give the Stars much trouble. They capitalize on your mistakes and have a couple strikers who can finish.
Eagles - In terms of overall team play, best team in this age group. They don't have the studs that Scorpions or Stars have; they are just all very smart, very skilled players. Their possession game is top notch, which makes their defense look better than it actually is. They are very vulnerable to diagonals and balls dumped over the top. But they have so much possession, especially in the midfield, that opposing teams can't get much offense going. Their lack of star player who can take a game over may end up hurting them.

State Cup champion will be one of those 3 teams, and it's really up for grabs. All 3 can knock each other off on any given day. I expect to see Eagles-Scorps in the final, but who knows!
