Team x & y are in different leagues

Player A is listed on a SC roster for Team x, but never attends a game.

Can the player be listed on the roster for Team y?

Can the player participate in any of Team y's games?

My understanding is once a player is listed on a submitted state cup roster, the roster is frozen and they can't play on any other State cup team, regardless of league.

The league issue depends on the respective league rules.

If a player is never submitted on a SC game day roster, perhaps there is a way to petition MYSA to place him elsewhere, provided the team he joins has not played and had their roster frozen.

Once a player is placed on a Cup roster from anywhere and that team has played a cup match, the player is ineligible to play for anyone else.

state cup games are independent of all other leagues and games. only considertation is for state cup play.

My understanding of the rules are that
if a player is on a teams roster
whether or not they ever play for that team in a competition
that teams roster is FROZEN (ie no adds no drops) when they play their first game in their state cup qualifying league.

You also CANNOT put a player from another teams FROZEN roster on your roster even if your roster has not yet been frozen.

Mind you Super Y is NOT a state cup qualifying league and you can carry up to 26 players on a roster but only play 18 per game. So SuperY does NOT count towards state cup.

TEAM ELIGIBILITY REGUIREMENTS FOR STATE CUP 2008

1. All players must be age appropriate.

7. The team must be entered in the competition of the State Association in which at least 50% of its’ players are registered.

8. The team must demonstrate continuity of rosters between league and State Cup by maintaining a minimum of 9 players common to both competitions.

9. The team must compete in a state approved qualifying league. For complete requirements, refer to Section 305-1 of the Mass Youth Soccer Constitution and Bylaws (copy is located on the state’s website under State Cup Tournament.

10. Any team which forfeits three (3) league matches in the league the team is using for Cup qualification purposes shall be declared ineligible for Cup play.

11. League rosters for U13-U16 can not exceed 18 players at anytime.

13. Cup roster must not contain any player who previously has been on a “frozenâ€￾ 2008 State Cup roster anywhere within the United States

I recommend going through the MA Youth Soccer website state cup rules or calling them for detailed clarification. Since I had a very event specific question as to player eligibilty last season and they cleared it up 1-2-3

What does this mean "little game"?

Not sure what the "game" is but a player can play for one team for State Cup and another for MAPLE or Super Y or whatever with the exception of the Region 1 leagues. MPS has done this in the past where players that were playing up on the Super Y teams moved down to age appropriate for the SC games.

An MPS player played for to separate Bulldog teams this past weekend . It was U14MASC and I don't think either team would be considering SC play. Either way MPS was breaking the rules.
