You all seem to forget the other part to being a successful coach...the psychology of it. A coach can have a steller resume as a player, and have the higher level license, BUT unless that coach has the ability to teach all types of players, and deal with all types of personalities, it doesn't really matter. Compare Ansen Dorrance to other top level college coaches. What makes him so successful year after year? Its not his resume or his record, but his ability to understand the psychological aspects of coaching. Yes, the better your record, the more elite players are attracted to your program, but every coach has to prove themselves. Every program has a starting point.
My daughter almost quit soccer because of a choach with a great resume, but a coach who refused to acknowledge the psychological aspect of coaching. Who cares which league your kid plays for. Find them a coach who will be best suited for them. They can play MAPLE D1 or ODP, but if the coach turns them off to the game, what good will that do?
