Ever notice how the people who complain the most, most often contribute the least?

On the other hand, given the crude puerilities that have recently appeared on this forum, I can’t blame people for leaving. Ultimately this is a failure of regulation: the moderators have been asleep at the switch.

Sorry, but the very existence of this thread supports my point. Anyone in doubt can reread FSM’s initial post about what the final straw was. The stables may have been cleaned and the barn doors finally closed, but the registered posters have since departed for cleaner pastures.

Moreover, long-time readers of the forum know that administrators have been silent in the past when complaints were raised about objectionable language, identifying players in posts, sp*m threads, and so on. Now thebes20 is the admin, but until a few days ago who knew? I thought Soccer Fan was still the admin (although admittedly I don’t read every post on every thread).

I think it’s important that administrators check in from time to time -- to explain why some posts are deleted, why others are allowed to stand despite complaints, etc. Sundance used to do that, IIRC, but he seems to have left the building. (I realize that this is extra duty for the admins and sympathize with them.)

Forums that allow anonymous posting will always degenerate into bickering and name calling. That’s why they need vigilant moderators: not to stop the bickering -- you might as well try to stop the tide -- but to promptly remove the crude excesses that wash up from time to time. A clean, well-lighted place, that’s all we can ask for.

OK gang, I’ve decided to take a sabbatical from this forum. I know you wouldn’t have wanted me to leave without saying goodbye. I’m packing up my opinions, wit, aliases, and musical instruments. Naturally, I need quite a large trunk for everything. You can keep the numerous threads I’ve started and my many posts. And no, I’m not headed for the new forum: I’ve been there and done that, as BTDT might have said. Cheerio! :)

I was catching up on some old post reviews and old topics to see what was going on and found this.

I know several of you have been reporting spam posts and etc. to my account and it went unanswered. I apologize for that. My real job (the one that pays the bills) required me being away for the last several months, so my account went unanswered.

I am back and installed a brand new version of the board with tons of upgrades and etc, including a massive new anti spam feature and id code box to stop spambots. One of the other new features which several have found is a "Reporting" feature. If you see a post or something that requires one of the moderators or admin's to address, simply use the reporting feature. You will see a Red Exclamation point at the bottom right of each post. Any user can click on that and send a report to the Admin's email and pm box plus mark each thread for us to deal with.

As thebes20 mentioned earlier on, the forum is what it is, and if you have a problem or something that needs to edited, please notify us.

I have operated this site for a number of years and it will remain anonymous. We welcome your insight, gossip, concerns, information, gripes, and stories, as long as you follow the rules! If you see a players initials, number or name used in a negative way then highlight that thread with a !. (that also goes for coaches, clubs etc). The moderators will get to the offending post. It is as simple as that. Admin has improved this site and I hope you find it illuminating and entertaining. Thebes20
