I have for years frequented other soccer forums and have seen nothing quite like this one (except maybe GotSoccer). In the others I follow there are exchanges of ideas and information and even when posters disagree, they seem to manage to make logical and respectful arguments to support their points. One thing they all have in common is the requirement to register in order to post.
I agree with Pasta's observations today - too many here seem to take glee in the misfortunes of others. Anything posted and someone is bound to look to make a "Gotcha" post in return. IMO it is too easy to do so as a result of the "Guest" function. The benefit of "Guest" postings, allowing those who might not otherwise post to do so, is far outweighed by the negatives. This forum has also recently seen untold numbers of spams, but the straw that has broken this camel's back were the nasty posts under the "U16G State Cup Predictions" thread.
So I'm heading for the forum that Keeper set up last year, as it is still up, and hopefully it will continue beyond it's anniversary: http://touchline.informe.com/index.php. I hope some of you that have contributed positively to this forum will join me over there and maybe some of the oldtimers who no longer post might be willing to join in again.
