Ok, you are an Algonquin kid. I'm glad you love the school, and I'm sorry the loss was so hard. But at least you still have a field hockey team in the running for a State Championship.

Im not sure why algonquin has so many haters. The players really dont do anything more then other teams. They get blamed for people punching them? Blamed for trash talking while every other team does. if you think your son isnt then you need a reality check. Im not trying to promote algonquin or anything or say how they are better but seriously you people need to lay off. They lost, they know that, players said nothnig, coach was angry, who wouldnt be. Its all in the past. Goodluck to ludlow tonight but seriously, give algonquin a break.

I have to agree with you. I thought the players showed a lot of class after the match, good quotes from them in the paper. Of course they trash talk on the field, we all know that everyone does, it's part of the game, for goodness sake. You try to get into your opponents head. I think the problem's with the coach response. While it's good that he doesn't like to lose, his comments didn't reflect well on the school's soccer program with regard to sportsmanship. The coach should be a leader & role model for the players. If he's going to behave childishly, that's disappointing. The players play the game, he doesn't. The work is done on the field, not the sideline. The boys handled themselves well, he didn't. It's about them, not him. Hopefully next year he'll behave a little better.

Kudos to Algonquin for a great season.

Well said. Coaches get (or take) too much credit when things go well and get too much blame when things go bad. Soccer is the ultimate players' game.

Short tempered at times, classes populated with kids with behavioral issues, not enough time to devote to individualized instruction, lots of IEP meetings which means less time for those prep periods. Teachers volunteer time after school. They arrive early for school. And I never said other schools don't have cliques & bullies, in fact I pointed out that Algonquin is just like other high schools - glad to hear you haven't run into a problem with them (Algonquin's "not that bad"?), but they absolutely exist. I've talked to kids who absolutely think the school is overcrowded. Not 1,300 either. Check your own facts, please.

Not to mention the fact that the Alonquin coach must be kicking himself for his team's semi-final loss. They could have been State Champs today if an inferior Ludlow (according to him, on the night) hadn't beaten Gonk. Darn it.

Not really fair. It seems that the MVP in the Gonk/Ludlow game was Ludlow's goalie - he stopped everything Algonquin threw at him, and on any other night, against any other team, they might have scored 5 or 6 goals. What's sad is that Algonquin gambled, putting a Revs DAP goalie on the field, and an MPS kid in the net this season. Not that he's not a good goalie, and I know he needed practice for next year, but let's face it, given the weak state of Cmass, they didn't need JS on the field during the season, so he didn't really add value there. Maybe they should have switched goalies in the post season. They have some other goal scorers, and JS might have been more effective in the net. I believe he offered to play on the field, but it didn't help the team in the end.

That's not a fair assessment. JS was recognized as all-NE at striker and Gonk was certainly a better team as a result. Ludlow just happened to be an even better team.

They needed someone to put the ball in the net. That was a very smart move by the coach. His goalie this year had a great season.
