Will players now flock back to the Scorps after the whole debacle of last year?

Will players now flock back to the Scorps after the whole debacle of last year?

I dont think the great run by the Scorpion 15s will cause players to flock back to Scorpions. For one thing tryouts are over and teams are 99% selected for the younger groups already. For another thing I suspect that families wont consider the 15 results germaine to the situations of other teams.

What I think will cause players to seek out Scorpions over time is the coaching situation there and the far healthier club atmosphere since the change of guard that occurred a year ago. Marks is a force of nature. His current 15s and the several younger teams he will coach are going to do well. Caldwell is young, smart and ambitious. He will attract players to those teams and to the club as a whole. Kate Dempsey is a very good coach and genuinely likable person. Same for the new Marino.

Inclusion in the ECNL should help also. Players from that geographic area, and nearby areas, who want to play in ECNL only have two choices. Some players may not want to play in ECNL and will leave Scorpions (and Stars) to play in a non ECNL club, our club gained some of these this year. Good players. I would suspect that Stars and Scorpions will gain more, and better, players than they lose though. Ambitious players will seek out the ECNL, just as they have the DAP.

Despite the ugly situation wrought by the two former coaches from this point of view (associated with nearby rival club, but with no animosity toward Scorps) they seem to be doing very well.

I want to congratulate the Scorp 15s on their Regional Championship and the National finalist finish. I also want to commend their parents on the lack of fanfare and boasting. With an exception or two they were always respectful sideline companions when we have played them in the past.
