There a a lot of players that are too old for the group they play in. What is being done about this ? Saw this in MTOC playoffs even ODP a couple of years ago.

...and MAPLE....and all over the country. Where have you been for the last decade or more. You do remember Freddy Adu who was looking great at '15' when he was really 18 years old.
Although the next comment may sound 'racist' to many foolish left liberals it is an accurate observation; Most of these kids come from other countries and/or are likely to be illegal immigrants. Welcome to the new America!!!!

Part of what happens is through school placement. Coming from a third wold country will definitely put a kid behind. Subtracting a couple of years will give the kid a better chance for success. When that same kid enters the sporting environment, those two or three years can make a huge difference.

Massachusetts (and I presume other states) accept one of two 'age' placing documents. The first is a birth certificate, which can be suspect from outside this country. The second is the educational placement of the town that the player is residing in. Either is acceptable and mutually exclusive of the other.
The responsibility therein lies with the club to do what is best for.......................???? the player.........or the club?? Case in-point; the man-child from the NEFC U13B team who has scored more than 95% of that teams goals.

This is a big problem with foreign born players. Very hard to prove. It's in many sports, baseball being among the most abused.

Any questions regarding overage players should be directed to the DOC at Inter or is AC MIlan now. He got away with using U-18s on his 16s in two tournaments and then the morons posted pics of them on the website. How does he get away with it??

The problem is overage players. It's cheating. Overage cheating happens with USA born players too. It's just much harder to prove birth dates for foreign born players.

There are many non-white (and white) from wealthy and not so wealthy families that want to play soccer who present legitimate identification papers and are appropriately placed. These are facts supported by data.

There is an increasing concern over over-aged players who are placed in the younger age groups. These players do NOT have legitimate identification papers, and the lack of substance is being taken advantage of.....in all youth sports. This is supported by data.

The question that is being asked, is how to address it. The responsibility could be shared by the state (government), towns, and the clubs, however the latter is, unfortunately driven by the desire to put winning numbers up to attract more players. Therefore, the responsibility lies on the local and state governments to determine a best-method.

There are ways to determine age, however, idiots (and dare I say 'racists') such as yourself will complain that players are being 'profiled'

Not to get into a political debate here, but it is quite simple. Get more hard _______ league administrators. threaten clubs with life time suspensions if caught. That is what happen to the Danny Almonte coach.

Agreed. The penalties have to be harsh, long lasting, and enforceable. Suspension for the team and coach, and fines for the club. The suspension should be a two year for that team, and the 2+ years for the coach. If the player is legitimate then you don't have any worries. If there is any question, the play the them up. This is likely better for the player.

Come on, be serious. We don't care about illegal immigration, so why would the governing bodies actually care abut something so minor as who plays youth sports?
