2 or 3 players from RI I believe. Watch them play today. Impressive

What happened to the mighty Stars? I guess they are not gods outside this state. Way to come crashing back to earth. An overrated club with a monopoly in one state is their only claim.

It looks like only 2 Mass girls teams will advance to the semi's. I'm not very familar with either team so, would anyone like to speculate on how they would do in a game against each other. My money would be on Scorps................anyone?

            MA Teams

Stars 16s are looking solid. Should advance again to nationals. Scorpions 15s look to advance again either via win at regionals or silly attempt by USYSA to be relevant by advance via national play-in. ECNL is the answer at this level. Either way, Stars are in trouble as are Scorpions. Not enough depth. Both teams have solid strikers but only mediocre midfield (where transition game is made or lost) and very soft defense (where championships are won or lost).
Kind of funny, but despite dramatic difference in overall style, neither FM or JD understands that a fast forward (or two) can't win a championship. Shameful.... teach the girls to play the game rather than dump it to the strikers and I am sure both would do better. Look at Germany and/or Netherlands for a bit of guidance. Both the American (FM) and English (JD) games are lacking that unselfish controlled play that is needed to win!

Another arrogant idiot. Two teams set to possibly advance to nationals, and poster says "either way Stars are in trouble as are Scorpions." And you're basing this somehow on World Cup results. Someone who thinks he is smart who likely pumps gas on the side of his U12 girls gig. Or did you publish a textbook on the Dutch soccer system???

Shameful? You are shameful. Nothing worse than some jerk in Massachusetts acting like he is an expert on world soccer technique and tactics. Pipe down, and try to do a better job with your town team. And see if you can win employee of the month at Jiffy Lube.

For anyone who was lucky enough to know Coach Joe Avila of RI, here is a clip from WVA.
Coach Joe died of a heart attack prior to the games in the WVA hotel lobby.
                      RIP Joe.

So the U16 Stars only have a mediocre midfield but they should advance? That is quite an indictment of CW and his McLean team. I guess we will find out soon enough.

Watched a bit of the U16 Stars game and they are talented young ladies. However, I wouldn't criticize the poster who said they need more depth mid-field. The players were skilled and awesome. However, the last game we watched them play against Western PA, the score at halftime was 0-0 and was a great match. FC Stars broke through in second half to score 3 goals, but they didn't look like a 'soccer superstar" as Western PA gave them a great game. Same can be said when they played CFC United. They dominated 1st half, but CFC controlled 2nd half to tie Stars 1-1.

Again, I have great respect for FC Stars who have amazingly talented players, but I agree with the poster that playing as a team, rather than passing to the forwards all the time, would make them unbeatable. It will be interesting to see how they do in the semi-finals against McLean Strikers.

You sound like the parent of either a Stars or Scorpion parent at Regionals. Quit being so sensitive because someone criticized your little Mia's team. We're allowed to express our opinion and many of us do, without personally attacking another poster. To do so, shows a lack of clas on your part.

No, thankfully, but I'm still interested in how things are down in WVa.

You guys (gals) sound like parents - why not read up on soccer strategy rather than trying to learn from your lawn chairs? This forum would be less worthless.
