The area's in which the games and opening ceromonies are a mess, the president of the USA is flying into WV today for the WV senators funeral. Aiports and roads are all shut down. Players and coaches flying in are stuck in layover airports.

Thank you!! I forgot this was a soccer forum for a minute there. people go way to far...so let the games begin today. Does anyone have any favorites, or are you watching the regional scores in hopes specific teams go down??

U-14 girls games start at 8:00
groups are as follows:

Group A

(PA-E) (SC) FC Bucks Revolution (I think they will make it out of thier bracket)
(PA-W) (SC) Century United
(NY-W) (SC) Rochester FC
(VA) (SC) Beach FC Piranhas

Group B

(CT) (SC) CFC Wolves (I think they will make it out of thier bracket)

Group C (also known as the group of death) Tough group is a real toss up between Match fit, Slammers & Stars. Match fit won the state cup aginst the slammers, but Stars really want this one. First game is between Match fit and Stars, whoever wins that one may take the tournament.

Does anyone know why MA no longer participates in the State Cup for U12?? It looks like there are only 2 teams that aren't in R1, us and Maryland. That's a shame!!

Because having regionals for 11 year olds is foolish! Not a shame, but smart. Kids get enough soccer and the Andre/Irwin Cups are good soccer. No reason to push the kids for another few weeks so parents can brag about their kids. At this age, kids need to rest for a few weeks, both physically and mentally and parents checkbooks can also use a few weeks off.

MA girls has about as difficult a draw as possible with powerhouse PDA in their bracket at 14, 15, 17 & 18 and potential PDA semi matchup at 16. Teams making it through to the final will not have an easy road.

No, it's not a shame at all. The states that have a state cup at U11 and U12 have it wrong.

Based on what, do the administrators select the brackets?
For example, in the U13B, the first group has three of the best teams in the tournament, while the other brackets have 1...maybe a second very good team.
