Will you be watching the game on your 1965 black and white tv in your dirt floored hut? Have you invited the rest of the villagers?

In typical American fashion, many people never gave a crap about this team until it won a game and a World Cup group.

This is why the game doesn't "take off" here as in other countries.

In other countries, there is rabid fantaical support of the team, no matter who they play, where they play, or how they play.

The win-at-all-cost mentality in the USA means that many don't bother paying attention until they can associaye themselves with a winner. That isn't supporting your team.

                Bright side

They're the only African team still in it so they were my second choice to win the game.

Pretty sad - going home after losing to the world soccer power GHANA. This game showed the US team IS really Just the sum of it's average players.

the reason it doesnt "take off" is because the games are long, uneventful and boring. The stupid horns dont help either

This pretty much sums up the opinion of the average american. Unfortunately, yesterdays game against Ghana did not help to further soccer in America. The American team were less skilled, in worse condition, had poor quality shots, and continue to stuff it down the middle. YES...the field is a big field and you are supposed to use as much of it as you can in order to spread out the other team!! It is the same in any team sport. Even individual sports like tennis try to use the whole court.
More so, the US defense was poor throughout the Cup.
Performance: Mediocre to Poor. They barely made it out of the weakest bracket and then lost to a team from a country smaller than Oregon.....but had more passion, skill, and were physically more fit.
For the average American who lives for statistics and scoring, and lacks the ability to appreciate the beauty of this game, the American team did nothing to bring this country closer to soccer. Add in the obnoxiuos deafening, infecting, and lip swelling horns.....and we are done. There is more interest in the NBA and NHL draft.

With some luck the American media will highlight how soccer should be played and aggressively display the games played by Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Germany, and Argentina....

Your assessment could not be more offbase. The US loss can be pinned on the shoulders of Altidore and his lack of finishing skills. The lack of finishing skills can be pinned directly on youth soccer's obsession with technical skills EXCEPT for shooting. For some reason youth coaches in the US think that points are being given out for possession and stringing passes together. Ghana's 2nd goal resulted from a kick and chase goal that would have the US soccer snobs wringing their hands in agony over the lack of artistic beauty.
