okay, I missed that. (It was sort of a rant and I skimmed, my bad....). I am in agreement that government ought to butt out. But I do think that the costs are not at all prohibitive. Pass it on to the student athletes at $5 a pop; another user fee. Also to the other poster's question, no, the ImPact test should not take 2 1/2 hours. It's probably all the questions and questionnaire stuff that adds to the time, but the actual test itself is maybe 35-45 minutes at most, i believe.

There are different types of tests. Not sure what the differences are but presumably at least the shorter cheaper screening might be available to most sutdents.

More and more public schools are finding ways to finance it. The "training" involved in administering and interpreting the baseline is neither time-consuming nor expensive. It's a fabulous tool for measuring an athlete's readiness to return to play. I have to say I was quite surprised at MASC's violent reaction on the closed thread. This DOES save lives and quite frankly, I can't think of any injury to a soccer player that is more serious and life threatening than a head injury.
This would be something worthwhile to require for high school athletes. I am pleasantly surprised that it is happening at a public high school. Hoping ours will pursue it.

            Reopened.
No idea why it was closed but it looks like it was an error.
