Player/coach relationships can be a bit more complicated, even at the 14 and younger ages. Many factors to consider here: coaching style &personality, and whether or not it works for the player(s),extraordinary team factors(prima donnas, too many/too little tournaments, player expectations (low or high),playing time, etc. We have discussed them all at some point on this forum.Bottom line:if the player is not happy, and the situation isn't healthy, should be no restrictions to jumping mid season.... I know of one kid that should have jumped last season and stuck around through June, only to tolerate all of the above.
Just curious: what, exactly, was the "all of the above" that the player tolerated? Too much or too little playing time, too many or too few tournaments, etc.?
correction: only to tolerate most of the above. Please Use your imagination.
