truthful answers if that is possible

my daughter plays in MASC is she college bound? NO Does she love to play the game? YES Am i a blue collar worker? SURE

why not let these girls just play the game no matter if it MPS or MAPLE or MASC or for that matter on their town teams

What % of these girls are going on to play div. 1 soccer

My last question to any one who is willing to answer this question honestly is what is your daughter going to do with her soccer skills after college?

NOTHING got out in real life and get a job to make ends meet and hopefully she went to a college that afford her the skills to lead a meaningful life

My daughter played soccer Travel, went to club and played Super Y.

Sophmore in College - D3 Played both years alot. Chose a State School because she is going on to Law School. Knew she would play in D3 - play maybe a bit in D2 and probably ride the bench if she even made a D1 team.

Truly believe the soccer part of College has been a huge asset. She trains most of the year - has to keep her grades up because thre is a minimum GPA even at D3
    .

Will she go on to play later in life --- no. But she will cherish these years - yes - she was not ready to let go after High School.

It is not always just about D1 and scholarships. It's about soccer and playing and friendships. So stay the course and don't over analyze it all...

As long as she's productive and happy I'll be so as well.

Heck, I'm happy now. She's clearly proud. She attends school wearing her club warmup top, and goes to sleep wearing a Carolina Courage jersey underneath a poster signed by a bunch of WUSA players.

The possibilities, while from a professional soccer playing perspective, are not as substantial as men, are tons better than girls had even 15 short years ago. (Arguably better college wise for girls if the number of camp and college brochures showing up in our post office box are any indication  .) It's us parents that see the limitations, not our kids. Let's let them have their dreams and try to teach them that with commitment and hard work they can achieve them.

OK, she may not play professionally, but she might coach, or work or volunteer at a camp, or be a qualified parent coach to my grandkids someday. All good.

Truthfully, I dreamt of being a rock star. I like her choice much better.

        All legit questions.

No one is stopping the girls from playing with their town teams except maybe themselves. My observation is that participation is spotty at best from the casual players once they hit high school so in many cases it's tough to pull a town team together. The more serious players tend to migrate to the club teams because they are not limited to town boundaries and can find a team to play for.

I expect my kid to play somewhere in college. At this point I have no idea where or at what level. Honestly I do have misgivings about what the value of the experience my be for her. I reconcile myself with these misgivings by remembering how signficant the experience has been for me in my life. I never made a dime from my sport, but I did benefit immeasureably from the experience.

Forgot about this point. It is kind of a limiting rule wonder why it is in place?

Presumably to keep kids from playing too much and injuring themselves.

Our town couldn't field a team at U15 this year because a couple good players that formed the core of the team chose club rather than town. The already shortened bench didn't want to compete without their best players.

Many of the better young players play for multiple teams. I've watched a few wear down and carry nagging injuries. Sometimes the parents and coaches, the people that should know better and want to protect these 12 and 13 year old children, are oblivious.

If they need protecting at U15, why not at U14 and U13 and U12, etc?

The consolidation at older ages discussed in another thread is partially a result of this rule.

The reason for single rostering limitation on U15 and up has less to do with competing soccer interests (club/town) and much more to do with the competing interests of HS and non-HS sports and extra-cirriculars. I also believe that the lack of a fall youth season comes into play. I happen to believe that the incredible expansion of club programs that has occured in the last five years has made dual rostering at U13 and 14 much more problematic than when the rules were implemented. So for me - if anything - there is a need to prohibit dual rostering at even younger ages. I happen to believe it would be in the best interest of all players to require every player to commit to a choice, and avoid the conflicts that occur over practices, tournaments and games. Trust me, I am not trying to be elitist. I am very familiar with players who left club after 16 and went back to play for their town team at 17 and 18. In those cases, the numbers were down so they mixed ages but it seemed to be a great success for all. Like players mentioned above, some of those girls playing "town only" did go on to play in college.

No one considered working with the town next door to see these kids get a chance to play?

Generally you'd probably need the other teams in the league to ok it.
