The Ref was very inexperienced. One of the worst of seen to date....Girl intentional handles ball in box( actually piked up ball) but it was not on a shot but a pass.......red card and PK

BW coach is a jerk...would never let my daughter play for him.....continually badgering ref and insulting her.

Some of BW parents just as bad as coach.........They should have got red card also

A pass back to the goalie is not a red card and PK...There had to be more to this than what has been presented here.

And my daughter has played for that BW caoch for a few years now and it has been a great experience, she like him and so do we. Also, he left FH to get away from the kick and run mentality, not to expouse it..

And I have seen him in games where I thought I would lose my mind the refereeing was so bad and while I have seen him question calls, I have never seen him so far over the edge to deserve a red or even get a yellow that I can recall..

I think you had it right the first time ...inexperienced referee and was WAY to fast on the draw is the conclusion I come to...

I'll assume that it was not the GK who picked up the ball on a pass back, as that is not a direct kick or PK and that it was a field player. If that was the case and the call was that bad, then perhaps MAPLE should reverse it as I could see a coach going haywire over such a blatant misapplication of the rules. Barring a misapplication of rules, you'd have to know the angle, speed and play it was to decide if it was worthy of a red. Benefit of the doubt to the Ref. Was it a girl who had just been the keeper or a "mistake?" If it was intentional and near the goal line or stopped a breakaway or shot then I am definitely with the Ref. Maybe the "stupid tax" for picking up the ball off the field it the box ought to be a PK and red anyway, that is a big mistake for a MAPLE U12 player to make and inexcusable and obviously quite intentional. More details would be interesting and good to know exactly what happened.

Pk is correct if not the GK and in the box - red card is not - unless she deliberately handled it to prevent a goal.

Sorry but there is never an excuse for a coach to go ballistic. Otherwise your post is pretty good.

Thanks, I think.... Ballistic is probably too strong a word. That being said, I never let my parents, players or kids blame the Ref for a "bad" call. However, if the Ref does not know the laws of the game, to me that is inexcusable and extremely frustrating. If it was that situation and he gave a PK instead of an indirect, and not some Judgment call, depending on what the Coach actually did, I think MAPLE ought to reconsider the suspensions. If it was a field player, then it was a Judgment call and the league ought to support the Ref and uphold the coaches suspension no matter what he did after the call. His fault and his players fault for actually picking up a ball in the box.
