I dont know, rereading the statement that started it you can really cant blame people for interpreting it the way they did
You're going to tell me you just happened to think of "Destination Teams" as a topic out of the blue? Where did you think the topic would go? And what exactly is the point of the thread? What point are you trying to make? What makes the topic interesting to you?
I too think you owe the thread author an apology. You are being awkward and difficult for no reason.

BTW I'm not the Guest who posted previously.

Bravo! You are totally right and this other poster just wants to take potshots at one club and will distort the facts to fit his fabricated reality.

The point is no one knows what you wrote because you haven't distinguished yourself from every other Guest posting to this topic. Don't complain about the direction the thread takes if you are unwilling to make an effort to clarify.
We can not assume the best about another poster unless they register? That is your excuse to denegrade and ridicule? You are so cynical that you pull sentences and even individual words out of a post to attack someone?
Bravo! You are totally right and this other poster just wants to take potshots at one club and will distort the facts to fit his fabricated reality.
The more you post the more Cujo is proven correct. Cujo is just sitting back reading the posts and nodding his head.

If you read one statement out of context, ignoring the topic, ignoring the general discussion in the topic, ignoring the discussion about the Bolts and Blazers, I guess you can make that statement. My original post was 17 lines long, and you pull out 1 line and analyze it, 1 out of 17, what happened to the other 16. Even though I wrote more about the Bolts and Blazers, the 1 line split between the U14 and U15 Stars is uniquely important? The fact that you admit that you are reading a statement out of context, not reading a lengthy, in-depth, soccer specific post and understanding it in its entirity, proves that Cujo is right. When people start to pull single half sentences out of context to get all emotionally charged, and then others state they can understand how the emotionally charged individuals got confused, it only proves Cujos point (as much as I wish he was not right).

The Destination Team thread was started on Feb 14th. The emotional Bad Weather Stars Rover thread was started on Feb 16th. So the point is that the Destination Team thread should not have started 2 days before the emotionally packed Bad Weather thread started? The Destination Team thread could not have been started out of the blue because the author should have had the foresight to know FSM would be starting a thread two days later? The point of the thread is to discuss how players migrate to an All-Star team, what attracts the players and how the players should make the decision to migrate or not. The topic is interesting because a lot of families are faced with the option to move or stay. There is a thread called Club Jumping, this Destination Team thread is like the Club Jumping thread except more targetted on those players looking to move to a team based strictly on playing at the highest level in the State (there are other reasons players Club Jump). Yes this thread is a bit specific but it is a good thread topic.
I too think you owe the thread author an apology. You are being awkward and difficult for no reason.

Hey original poster guy,
Can we move on? Your questions were answered very specifically on page 1 in the first response. Or do you need to hear some more about how brilliant your later restatement of your interest was, a restatement you've referenced so far 6 or 7 times?

Again it is idiotic posts like above that prove Cujo's poiont. Notice that Cujo is strangely silent over the last two days? Because he knows that stupid Guest posters like you will prove his point - he does not have to say anything.

See http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=659165
So I was wondering if folks think the Revs imprimatur would create such a destination?

That would be one solution - to essentially buy out Bolts, and use their facilities and personnel to get started. They could then fast-track retiring players with an aptitude for coaching (Marshall Leonard? Jay Heaps? Joe Franchino?) to get the appropriate licenses, and try to build soccer in areas that aren't developed. My concern is that Bolts already do a good job, and the the Revs could mess it up.
I would prefer to have the Revs start from the ground up. Give Joe Cummings (or the equivalent) a wad of cash, and tell him to develop an academy that would ultimately become one free, central (residential), and several satellite academies over the next ten years. The problem here is that it would take more long-term money than I think the Revs want to commit to.

And actually Heaps played for the Bolts (which were then known as the Eagles) as a youth player.

When Mass Premier Soccer (the Boston Bulldogs and Renegades) tried to dip into the comptetive youth market touting the Super-Y experience, they initially received a tremendous negative backlash from the existing Maple Clubs. They definitely pissed people off, but they had to to establish themselves within the soccer landscape. And their initial teams were viewed as weak because they did not have the quality players that the existing clubs had. It took quite a few years but they perserved, they now attract as much quality as the Maple Clubs it can be argued, and they are viewed as just another club now per se.
Bolts on the other hand pursued USSF Development Academy status. How this interacts with MLS Youth Programs is still a very very fuzzy area. A lot of other MLS clubs are already established and their youth teams at U16 and U18 are already also USSF Development Academy.
The Revs right now are running camps that have recreational-level players in it. They are not considered actual teams that play any meaningful games.
So the Revs have some big questions to answer:
1. Do they take the MPS route starting at ground zero - which would mean ******* off existing clubs and MPS, and will take a significant amount of time before they actually saw any quality come into their program?
One way to speed up that cycle signifcantly is to do what the Red Bulls did: http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_b...lls-makin.html
A lot of times, for clubs to be entered into things like Region I premier league or high level tournaments, they have to qualify and show based on past results they are worthy. I am not sure what sort of "free pass" the Revs would get into USSF Development Academy, high level tournaments, etc.
But if they can negoitate that, that too would take away a lot of the recruiting power that existing clubs hold over their players/parents.
But, if they take that approach, do the Revs feel they are alienting a big part of their ticket base by being exclusive. I think this is a risk that is inevitable, so just get it over with.
2. If they take over an existing club, Bolts may not be willing to do it. As has been pointed out, some people are making a decent living - why would they turn that over unless there was a significanct takeover with lots of $$$.
So maybe not Bolts, but what might be more attractive is some other club - maybe with not the prestige of Bolts right now - but one that has established youth teams and a decent player pool that they can at least start with.
So, we know the following regardless if they start from scratch or absorb an existing club:
1. The Revs are initially going to piss someone off - it is inevitable (go over the the Youth Board and read about Chicago Magic vs Chicago Fire - the Revs are going to be in the same boat)
2. If the Revs created a free program at last for the key ages that MLS highlights - that would destroy 90% of the issues of competing with other clubs
3. If the Revs can "grandfather" into some high-level tournaments and the USSF Dev Academy - that would take case of another 9% of the issues competing with clubs
4. That leaves location which may factor into 1% - although as we saw with Clint Dempsey and other playrs even today - the cream of the crop will travel to be with the best.
5. All of this will take some serious $ - is the organization ready?

I have no doubt that if the Revs went into the high end youth soccer business, particularly if they made it a free academy (with admission on merit only) a small number of ambitious private clubs would be angry. So what? Youth soccer is an enormous cash cow and a capitalist hotbed. Clubs are growing and folding all the time. Some would resent the competition, and might retaliate in the short term by canceling season tickets and whatnot.
With hundreds of thousands (?) of youth soccer players in the state, it's not like youth soccer clubs are going to go away. IMO, youth soccer players would be very interested in the results of the Rev youth team in matches against youth teams from other MLS clubs, but also English youth clubs and nationally ranked American youth clubs. I think this would in the long run benefit the Revolution organization immensely.
