Well Cujo is correct, this is yet another idiotic thread.

FYI, the "destination" teams for MA are Bolts, Seacoast United NH for north shore (2 wins yesterday at showcase) and Oakwood CT for west of Worcester. Academy program will attract the best talent. This is the reality, whether you like or not.

        I REST MY CASE.

I tried hard to redirect the conversation onto soccer related 'Destination Team' comments, look at my long, detailed, soccer specific posts. I was then misunderstood by people trying to nit pick and take parts of my sentences out of context. I then posted a long reply explaining, defending and trying to uplift the conversation. And after all that was there a thoughtful, in-depth, detailed soccer centric response? No. Like it or not, and I do not like it, Cujo looks to be right.

I dont know, rereading the statement that started it you can really cant blame people for interpreting it the way they did,

For the U14 and U15 Stars teams there are still some quality players at other clubs that have not moved over

This oozes self promotion if the poster is a Stars parent, something we've seen quite a bit of. It's a statement that reads no other club or team is worthy or able to keep a good player and its only a matter of time before they leave...

Your subsequent post cleared it up but it was too far gone at that point.

Even when interpreted in the best possible light, the very nature of the topic of this thread was embedded with agenda, especially when it was started right in the middle of the real emotional turmoil bubbling up in the forum all over the place. All of the energy is about the teams that have moved en masse and/or that were destroyed since last spring. There obviously is a tremendous amount of anger about the situations that transpired and how they transpired, and crying out about "guest" posters is not going to change that. Putting up a thread on Destination Teams i the middle of all this is about as provocative as you could get.

A Destination team has nothing to do with teams moving en masse. I posted this topic and I would like for you to explain how it would have anything to do with team movement. The point is individuals mooving to a team.

I'm waiting for an explanation of your theory that this has anything to do with the other.

An apology would be nice too.

I didn't say they were the same topic. I suggested they were hitting on similar emotional agendas that have been playing out on the board. You're going to tell me you just happened to think of "Destination Teams" as a topic out of the blue? Where did you think the topic would go? And what exactly is the point of the thread? What point are you trying to make? What makes the topic interesting to you? Not inclined towards an apology at this point.

What do posters think about the movement of talent to one or two teams in the state?

At what ages do you think this happens (if you think it happens) and is it different ages for boys and girls?

What makes a team a destination team? Is it the club, the coach or the players (or some combination)?

How does state cup championship or tournament acceptance play into this?

How does commitment of players to club affect this? Is it better for a team to have soccer only players at U15 and above or is it better for the team to allow players to participate in high school sports? Will this affect the success of the team either on the field or as a destination team?
Yeah you're right - this is completely emotionally laden and obviously has to do with a team moving on mass to another club. We need to stop talking about soccer teams and the structure MAPLE seems to promote until - what is the proper amount of time - one year after any team leaves a club? These movements were in June or July right? Of course then it would be the anniversary of the mass exodus so perhaps then we should wait another year so some sensitive soul doesn't feel -

The thread was going along just fine until it got hijacked. And based on your emotional response you were probably one of the hijackers.

Ok...I'll bite....what makes you think that your first statement actually happens?

"What do posters think about the movement of talent to one or two teams in the state?"

My answer - I think nothing of it because theres no way to measure that it actually happens. If the question is meant as a "what would happen if" kind of thing then a different answer.

What there truly is however, is a general movement of players and parents to what is perceived as more successfully clubs. If a player's skills improve faster than the average for their current team, should they wait for the team to catch up, or move to a team with better average shills?

If this happens at lower levels, why doesn't it happen at the very top?

The guys on BigSoccer Revolution forum have a thread going in which they seem to think that a Revs Academy program would become a "destination" as described here; indeed, some of them argue that that is the reason why the Revs are not developing such a program, despite the MLS mandate(!). See http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=659165

So I was wondering if folks think the Revs imprimatur would create such a destination?

What do you do if you are the top player on the top team? This is all subjective.

Your frustration over your inability to keep the discussion on track is partly your own fault. In a discussion such as this, if you had a registered name, that would help us understand the context in which your points are made.
