Eagles Best U-16 Team in Mass

They dominated Boston in the state cup final and nobody can touch them. This is by far the best team in Mass. We have the best all around team out there..

Umm, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you lose that game?

        They? We?

You'll never know now will you, with the Bolts out of MAPLE & State Cup.

Good luck to you. Hope you win the those games that seem so important to you.

Pete, you're obviously not affiliated with the Eagles, so you'll have to be a little more explicit with your sarcasm.

Having attended this game, I will say that the Eagles didn't really wake up until about 25 minutes into the first half, and then it was too late. They did give the Bolts a run for their money, and they were really the only team in the league that came close to challenging the Bolts in the U-15 year (tied them in regular season, and I think in scrimmages before season, tied once and beat the Bolts once - but I may be mistaken on those details), but the Eagles didn't have the consistency (nor the elegance of a possession game) to win that State Cup final.

I think you can honestly say now that the Eagles are the best team in MAPLE. It will be interesting to see how the spring season shapes up, given all the team switching that has gone on since June '07. Anyone know how these D1 U-16 boys are doing in winter scrimmages and tournaments so far?

                      Thanks Punxatawney Pete.

Well, if it doesn't go well you can just go and recruit some other players off some other teams.

OK, so even if people agree with you, what is the point? Do you want a preseason confessional from the other teams in the division that Eagles are best? Would you like them to just concede the games? Would you like an invitation to the White House? What is your point?!

FYI.....All of the D1 U16 teams have won (convincingly) all of their practices, scrimmages, indoor games, and international friendlies. All of them close their sessions with a "Beat Eagles" cheer.

My point is to disagree with the initiator of this thread. The U16 Eagles may currently be the best team in their division in MAPLE, but not the best in Massachusetts, as originally asserted. The Eagles came in a close 2nd to the Bolts in the spring season 2007. The Eagles came in 2nd to the Bolts in the spring season 2006 but it was not a close 2nd: Bolts were 7-0-0, Eagles were 4-2-1. In the fall of 2005, the Eagles came in 5th out of 10 teams, the Bolts were unbeaten and shut out each of their 9 games.

Who won state cup as U15s? Oh, it was the Bolts. Who won state cup as U14s? Oh yeah, Bolts. What about U13? How about that, it was the Bolts that year as well -- and they were Region I champs, too.

These are statements of fact, not opinion, and therefore, I don't think this can be called "bashing". Now clearly, the Eagles have gotten better and better over the aforementioned seasons. And the Bolts were clearly more challenged by them as U15s than ever before. No more unbeaten shut-out seasons, the Eagles were snapping at their heels, even beat them in a pre-season scrimmage last year. But at the end of the tournaments, the Bolts prevailed. The Eagles are, I think, pretty disappointed not to have the opportunity to take the Bolts on again this year.

My question about how the MAPLE U16 boys' teams are doing in pre-season tournaments is just curiosity about how the spring MAPLE season will shape up, with all the shuffling of players, and move of the Bolts out of MAPLE.
