    The Revs picked University of San Fransisco standout defender Rob Valentino with their first pick (13th overall) and five picks later plucked Milford, Mass., native Michael Videira (18th overall),......

    Videira, 22, grew up in Milford, attended Noble and Greenough High School and played at the youth level for the FC Greater Boston Bolts. He was a three-time semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy (2005, 2006, 2007) and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) third-team All-American in both 2006 and 2007. In 80 career games with the Blue Devils, Videira scored 17 goals and added 15 assists. As a senior in 2007, he played in 16 games, scoring three goals and two assists while battling a leg injury. He is also a former member of the U.S. Under-18 and Under-20 National Teams.

      A very good kid, and one who is still mindful of his roots.

        Revs Add Mass. Native In Supplemental Draft

        With the its second selection the first round – the 13th overall pick – the Revolution chose Wellesley, Mass., product Chris Tierney out of Virginia. The 6-foot, 180-pound midfielder appeared in 79 games with the Cavaliers, scoring 11 goals and adding 16 assists in his four-year career. As a senior, Tierney scored a career-high seven goals, and assisted on seven more. Tierney played his prep soccer with Revs' second-round draft pick Michael Videira at Noble & Greenough in Dedham, Mass.

          Supplemental Draft Plucks Six Locals

          DC United plucked Cape Cod Crusader midfielder Dan Stratford in the second round then used their four-round choice (52nd overall) on Franklin Pierce goalkeeper James Thorpe.

          Thorpe earned Most Outstanding Defensive Player honors at the NCAA Division II Final Four after he held all opponents scoreless in 200 minutes of action. He led the Northeast-10 during his senior season with 12 shutouts, while his 0.63 goals-against average ranked second (10th nationally) and his .786 save percentage ranked fourth. The East Longmeadow, Mass. native was the only three-time All-American selection in Ravens' history.
