If MPS didn't care about the SC results why would they have a kid change teams for the SC games? Can't have it both ways. Or, is it possible that the importance of SC depends on the individual coaches and is not a general MPS policy one way or the other?
If they didn't care, they wouldn't whine about the seeding either. Nor would they be making posts about what Maple teams have to go through them to make the RR.
I have the semis as Expos Bolts Puma Aztec, the order is a pick'em, finalists depend on how the matchups turn out so RoundRobin ranking is key. All three games will be close, no suprise if a game has to go to PKs, perhaps two. Will be a huge weekend, as it should be.

Semi-Finals - 6/14 Red Winner vs. Black Runnerup, Black Winner vs. Red Runnerup
Final - 6/15
I have the semis as Expos Bolts Puma Aztec, the order is a pick'em, finalists depend on how the matchups turn out so RoundRobin ranking is key. All three games will be close, no suprise if a game has to go to PKs, perhaps two. Will be a huge weekend, as it should be.
Probably not a surprise (certainly not to my kids), but I was wrong - congrats, especially to Western United (Red runnerup to Aztec) and Bolts, Expos from the Black. Well done to the other competitors, all aquitted themselves well, nearly all games I saw were close.
Fairly well refereed, fields were holding up pretty well, trash not too bad, rain mostly held off, and we got in some exercise jogging to the Flea Market! Good luck at Rider and see you at the semi's!
Congrats to Expo's team who play with competitive desire. They are repeat SC champs (can't remember: did they win on PKs last year, too?). They scored first as they did in the RR game that Bolts won two weekends ago. Bolts evened the score but saw Expo's go ahead again on a PK. Bolts forced overtime with a lazer from outside, following the second ball off a well-earned corner (if I remember correctly, it was a corner). With a field player in net instead of their keeper (keeper was later given the MVP award probably in recognition of two saves he made during the game--he tipped over a direct kick that was curling and dipping under the bar, and he extended a header that was headed for the upper corner), Expo's won with a sixth sudden-victory PK after the first five for each team scored.
As a biased but well-informed observer, I see two different styles of play when these teams battle: The Bolts move the ball around well in tight spaces through combination play and creative 1v1 work while Expo's team plays direct from the back to chase down and muscle into the final third. My bias finds two roots: 1) I am a Bolts fan; 2) I am a huge fan of the former style and not the latter. Good luck to Expo's at regionals.

This game was very exciting, in the part I saw looked like the Bolts had the better chances and controlled midfield but Expo had the stops when they needed them, Bolts had a couple of great shots and some that were not too challenging as well. All scores were in regular time and OT no score, then the PKs. Expo pulled their keeper, neither side made any stops, then the Bolts missed one and Expos converted, looked like their GK got too a couple of them but the shots were two strong and deflected side net and the Cup goes to New Bedford again.

Looks like this guy had it pretty well, just cross out Puma for WU and only the big one went to PK. WAS a HUGE weekend!

I watched the whole game. Bolts were leading 1-0 at half. Expos tied it on a PK and then scored during the run of play just a little later to take the lead on a nice strike by #2. Bolts went high pressure near the end and earned several good scoring chances from their #11 player and also lots of dangerous corners and free kicks as well as deep throw ins and finally broke through for the tie very late. The Expos keeper did make a great save parrying the ball out wide to his left on what appeared to be a laser shot that would have gone in. He also made a great save off a header earlier in the game. I was surprised that the Expo's replaced their keeper for the PK's. And it was not their back up keeper but their #2 player. Also, surprising that he made no saves in the PK's. The only 1 that Greater Boston did not score on was over the crossbar. With this change I felt that GB had the advantage as their keeper was also very good throughout the game and during the PK's he read 2 of them correctly and got to them but they had just enough power to get through and find net
The comparison to the styles of play is accurate. I would also say the Expos are mentally tougher. They understand all the intangibles of the game and never seem to get rattled. Plus once they had the lead they really slowed the game down and took the air out of the game. It was that one extended frenzy by Bolts that earned them the tie late. It was a great game to watch. Congrats to both teams.
