Can a Western United parent confirm this?
Did a U14 player join your U12 team for the Spring?
Is she now the best player on your U12 team?
Is she in the ODP program?

Welcome to High School soccer, many stories from this year of younger players being led up the wrong path by older players at these so called
        " team bonding events"

This is not a shot at WU but a serious question. Is there a shortage of ODP players allowing the opportunity for these kids to play up?

I wouldn't say there is a shortage at the 95 age group. It is "normal" for ODP to take a lot of kids in the youngest couple of years because they make two ODP teams. It has also been accused as being done as a revenue generator for the system.

However the girls who made it are deserving. Did the entire WU team try out?

How many players are in the pool from the following,

                    FC Stars ?
                    Fuller ?
                    WU 6
                    Scorpians ?

I just took the top 4 teams from blue this last fall for reference.

Its interesting to see with the new ODP location that more players from out west try out and make it. On the other hand this must be a trek for the players from the South Shore. The interesting point would be how many Stars players made it, with the location being on their door step

So what does this mean? either a large number of girls didn't try out or large numbers didn't make it. If you take the top 2 teams in blue (Stars/Fuller) if they have 18 on their rosters that means 36 players, so only 6 of the 36 made it. Does anyone else think this is strange?

Agreed it is strange but there are a couple reasons.

#1 A big percentage of the players didnt try out. The ODP year is for players born in "95" so most U12s arent age appropriate until next year.

#2 Most of these kids get strong training with their club and ODP isn't needed. ODP is not critical for players to advance. Teams like FC STARS, WU, Scorps travel quite a bit and get lots of exposure. I bet these teams also train frequently and to be honest I think Cosgrove, Lavner, Marino, Stand might be better coaching options than a lot of the ODP staff.

#3 Sometimes ODP overlooks kids. They tend to like the ultra technical players and will overlook someone with a powerful style of play.
