They are not so strong that they could dominate Blackwatch. In a year or two, everybody will be looking up to Blackwatch.

WU has to prove that they can beat FH. When was the last time they did that? They couldn't in the Andre Cup semi-finals, they were lucky to come away with a tie in the fall season. I think the burden is on WU!
WU picked up a new player who had been playing u-14 and a new goalie. we will see how the spring turns out.

So now the kids who has been playing up at u14(very impressive) and the wonder kid from Blackwatch will have to duke it out to be crowned "The best players in the age group" Isn't BlackWatch in Scorpians territory? aren't we lead to believe that the best players always play for Scorpians?

What club were the player and goalie playing at ? Could spell trouble for Fuller and Stars.

WU still has their original goalie, they did however pick up another player who does play goal. As far a I know she didn't play for a club team but did however play JV for her school. The other player played for WU girls 14 team last fall.

Blackwatch is from Rhode Island and pulls a lot of kids from the untapped resources of Southeastern Mass.

Some clubs don't allow players to play up, while others will allow players to play up a year, usually because the player is in the same grade as most of her teammates. But WU allows players to play 2 years up? What are these parents thinking? There is a huge difference between a u12 and a u14, not just physically, but mentally! Thank god they came to their senses!

Pretty impressive to have a U12 kid playing JV HS soccer.

I'm assusming that most kids at this age who play up are early maturers physically so that they can compete in the older age groups.

Cosgrove moves kids all the time, he has moved at least 6 from his 16's down to the 15's and he has also moved players up and down between the 11's and 12's. This is another area that sets the Stars apart from other clubs. Please don't use the emoticon's to disrespect the post. I'm just telling you what I see and talking with parents.

Best example that I can think of is the Scorps U15G national team player who plays for the Scorps U15's (Scorps don't permit playing up) but the U17 national team.

Regional players have left the Scorpians because of this rule.

On the other hand, playing up is usually a time-limited phenomenon. The regional player you refer to that left the Scorps for the Stars is now playing age appropriate. That's not to say the playing up in the earlier years doesn't speed the developement of kids.

We all know its a tool used by clubs who win at the younger age groups then drop away when size isn't a factor. Not to mention any namaes but we all know the club that stands by this rule.

By the time players get into high school and reach U15 there are few players "playing up". The most common reasons would be to stay grade appropriate or because a player has been that way and their chosen club has a weaker presense at their appropriate age. The big age for change is U14/15 because the U15 team doesn't play in the fall and the younger player needs a fall venue. Playing up can also present a problem in the older ages because the college recruitment schedule is thrown off. Playing up at younger ages isn't always best. Rarely is the younger player placed in a leadership role with the older team and the expectations on the player when they do end up age appropriate can be overwhelming. I'd certainly rather have a child play for a quality coach with proper instruction and training even if the physical level of play is a little less than to "play up" on a team that stresses game tactics over technical training at the younger ages.
