So, get over your negativity and listen.
ODP is "screwy" all over the country and most of the college coaches know that. This is what you don't seem to understand.

Again, take a look at the top teams on the girls side and you will find that they are loaded with ODP players. This may be a coincidence, but I don't think so.

MPS. In fact it all started at ODP. He met several of his current teammates, decided he'd like to play with them and asked us if he could try out. The team plays Region I, NEP and Super Y. The next few months will be hectic and there will be very little time between the end of Club and beginning of high school again, but when I showed my son his schedule he said "Good stuff, mom, good stuff."

Because their parents believe the long held myth. Some of them figure it out though.

Funny I was talking to a parent of a player listed on the inter regional list who said they don't know how their kid's name got on that list, because that kids gave up doing ODP, felt club was enough.

Obviously the top teams believe it to

Take a look at the current U-17 Women National Team roster and you'll notice all but 1 player did ODP.

I think that was established earlier. At the present time, if you want to play at the regional or national team level, you have to do ODP. The argument was if you weren't that ambitious or good enough was the state level necessary. It is not.

The original post was about it being worthwhile. The author stated that it likely is only if the teach technique and not run a cross country session. Thats his opinion but if you are looking at college, it can give a player an edge.

But as long as the focus is on technique and learning the game, there’s no bad there. It’s all soccer. So relax a bit and let the kids play, whenever and wherever they are able. They’ll be fine.

I think its a no brainer personally. If your kid isnt on the top 1 or 2 teams, it definitely helps.

Is there something in the works for Regional ODP players NOT to have to play state ODP?

That would be great. My kid had to quit both because she couldn't afford both (reg'l charges per event). She was invited to foreign trips but we could never afford to send her. All in all not for the middle class.
