So Deltas new memorial day tournament is posted and Needhams applications are open. Both are College Showcases, Deltas are run by themselves while Needhams are run by MPS. Which will be the one to go to?

We continue to enhance our tournament! For 2008's tournament we are excited to announce our partnership with Mass Premier Soccer to offer a New College Showcase Division for U15 - U19 boys and girls teams. These games will be held at a separate venue and viewed by college coaches.

"We" is Needham. Go to the Needham tournament web site and read on. I know your club placed many teams in this event in the past. We won't go there anymore. It's a smart move on the part of MPS to get involved in an already established event. This gives them a great opportunity to recruit for the summer program.

No idea to be honest. I'm with MPS and the first I heard was Bernardos email.

MPS ALWAYS uses other people and latches on to people/events that can promote them.

Looks like the college coaches are going to be spread a little thin over the Memorial Day weekend. Remember that there are also some big showcases that weekend in other places (PDA, etc.).

How hard is this to figure out? It's a business decision that both groups feel they will benefit by. I would guess the Needham tournament would be hurt if another tournament entered the picture and they will probably benefit by the additional help and marketing MPS can provide. MPS on the other hand doesn't have to start from scratch building the reputation of their tournament. The separate locations means they can increase the size of the tournament without Needham taking a financial hit by having to share the tournament procedes with MPS.
