Every opportunity be with a ball!!! Come on you guys are crazy!!!
I didn't say other stuff wasn't important. They need to play other sports, do well in school, and maybe even attend church service, provided it doesn't conflict with Maple...just kidding. My point is top players are not created by coaches. They're created by their own devotion and hard work, and maybe improved or refined later.

If your childs team isn't as devoted as them, it's time to find another team. In the meantime, send them to the nearest park or schoolground, preferably one where foreign families raised on the sport, hang. Let them play as many unstructured hours a day as they want, with all different ages, sexes and skills. Let them have fun and discover the game on their own terms. Let them dibble the ball without parents on the sidelines yelling "pass it" or "kick it" or "play quicker". After a year or so of constant play ("practice") they'll have their pick of club team.

Sounds good but are there any kids pickup games anywhere in any park? Looks like in other countries kids are out playing but in US kids are jailed at home mostly.

There is in our town, but the poster is right. Most of the participants speak english as a second language, if at all. Luckily, soccer doesn't require languauge to learn.

Cool. May I ask which town and which park is this? Hope it's not too far.

Sorry. I'd get ripped to shreds by T-S fellowship of the miserable. Drive around a bit on sunny Sundays, or better yet ask your kids. Many towns have an underground soccer culture.

You read it here first.
Not without DAP, and they are not getting that any time soon. At age 15, most of the better players will leave for Rev's, Bolts, Seacoast.

There is a guy in Salem, Ma who runs pick up Soccer for kids all summer. 2 nights a week no money. Makes a couple teams and plays. Lines the field, has goals there. Kids come from all over to play. Relatively unsupervised. Parents sit around and watch these kids play some good soccer without a ref or coaches.
