    U15 girls Maple season

So the U15 group looks very interesting.
Scorps team is last years team from Maple D
Stars team is last years team from Maple D ( at least they played for the Presidents Cup)
    NEFC teams are from ?

What a bunch of crap. No wonder why people think Maple is a joke.
Maybe someone from Maple should take there league back from the big clubs that are making a joke out of it.

Agreed. Maple states it is a "merit based" league, but allowing clubs to move their B teams into spots vacated by their A teams is a practice that should be stopped. By the way, the two NEFC teams in Div 1 earned their spots. They are the old Eagles and old Puma teams.

Let's see how those B teams do first. They will probably be right in the mix. After the first couple of teams in D1, MAPLE is a "B" team league by U15 (boys and girls).

To prove the point. Last year girl's U14 D1. Scorps, Eagles, Stars - all teams that also played in R1 or Sub-Region and will be doing so again this year. In 7 games each team scored > 11 goals and gave up no more than 5. The rest of the teams all scored fewer than 6 goals and gave up at least 7.

Realize that the OP's point was that a club shouldn't be able to keep a spot for another team, but think the bigger issue for MAPLE is that is tries to be everything for everyone and it's too tied to State Cup. MAPLE should focus on being the best league in MA for - why is the season only 7 games in the Spring - because it can't conflict with State Cup. Teams that do well in SC then get MAPLE spots in D1 - de-couple the two tracks. Focus on putting together a league of similarly skilled teams and let the kids play, compete, develop. End of story.

This argument was front and center with last years' GU15's. Stars, Scorps & Fuller Hamlets placed teams in D1 that didn't earn them. Scorps & FH were beaten badly. Stars B team managed to barely stay in (by default).

As a result, the Scorps B team dissolved. Not sure what affect it had on FH. And this is supposed to be good for soccer in Mass.? What a disgrace.

There is a FH D2 U16 team, but not a FH D2 U15 team so you don't know what you are talking about

Brilliant. The point made by the other poster was that at U15 in D1, FH tanked. Now they are in D2 U16. I think they'll do OK in D2 as well.

Stars 2nd team held their own in D1 last year at U15, but I don't think that justifies Maple allowing a club to place their 2nd team into their D1 spots. That rule is only advantagous to the big clubs, and does a real disservice to the teams that don't play in the regional leagues.

Maple should adopt a 40% continuity rule in situations such as this.

If you look at the teams now in D2 and D3 you will see that the Stars and Scorpions have given the spots vacated by their B teams to their C teams. In both cases, these are teams that did not even qualify for maple. How does the league justify this when there are teams out there that fought hard to make the cut but fell short. There is no merit in this system, and as long as the Big Clubs are involved in the running of maple this will not change.

Even though they may do ok, being in a division is about earning your spot there. If you are in D1 and get booted down to D2, you have to be one of the top 2 teams the next year in D2 to have a chance at moving back into D1. At the HS level that means it can take a team 2 years to get back in D1. A club should not be able to just give a vacated spot to a lower team. In the case of the Stars U15 team, they would not have been able to enter D1 until U16 and the Scorpions not until U17. Both those coaches were able to keep good players from leaving and recruit better players at tryout in June because they advertised that those teams were D1. This is the "business of youth soccer" at it's worst.
