Just so you know...there is this new thing on the boys side called "The Academy". ;)

Its a national development league for Boys. Right now its considered the pinnacle of boys youth soccer in the US, short of Bradenton for the U17 team. There are only two Academy teams in the Greater Boston area - The Revs and The Bolts. There are no immediate plans to add any others.

If the Stars were to merge with the Bolts (and I personally doubt it would happen in the near future) this would make immediately a club that arguably would be one of the top 10 coed clubs in the US.
Correction. Three academies. SUSC is only 50 minutes from Boston. Shorter drive than some make now for the other two or ODP (for whatever ODP is worth these days).

You are making the assumption that someone is selling the parents something and the reasons for joining NEP were philosophical. Neither you nor I know the reasons so why assume its negative ?

        Thanks for the correction.

3 Academy clubs in the Greater Boston area.

Still none affiliated with the Stars.

              That's never going to happen.

In the foreseeable future, there will be no girls DAP as there is no money to support it.

New boys DAP clubs will only be added if the quality of local talent demands it. In other words, if the Revs, Seacoast and the Bolts are all showing evidence of superior talent compared to other regions, and they are turning away similar talent at tryouts, consideration for another local DAP club might be made.

In other words, don't hold your breath over there at NEFC.

Or...if one of these clubs does not produce, they could be replaced. DAP does not automatically allow teams in for the next year.

the bolts and revs will not be replaced... the revs are too strong with the $$ and the lure of a pro team. the bolts have been the "overall" premier boys side in this state for the past decade or so..

at this point of dap, the bolts have fared better. it most likely has to do with the fact that they have the luxury of having 12,13,14yr old teams which gives them a better chance of playing as a team. up until now, the revs are more of an all star team.

"Better" is a relative term. So far this year the Bolts 15/16 DAP team is 1-2-0 after its first three games an the Revs are 0-1-2. Last year the Revs 15/16 team ended up ahead of the Bolts with an overall record of 6-6-4 as against Bolts 6-8-2. For the 17/18 team, this year the Bolts are 1-0-2 after the first 3 games, Revs are 1-2-0. Last year: Bolts 10-5-1, Revs 8-6-2. Not a wide difference. Yes I know the Bolts went to the playoffs. But if your argument is that the Bolts are "better" since they can develop their DAP teams by virtue of having younger boys teams within the club feed in, I think the stats don't necessarily suport that argument. Maybe time will tell.

how have they done head to head? another thing, if you know the revs inner workings. you would know that the dap thing is something mandated by the mls. the revs themselves arent that thrilled. there has been much talk on how they can get out of the "free" part.

as a matter of fact, no players currently on the mls roster have anything to do with the academy. don't you find that a little strange?

and btw, i don't mean to say the bolts are better. the revs have cleary more talent

                              FYP.

Who knows what will happen 5 years from now.

Its far more likely that the talented boys who are U12 and U13 now will be playing for the Bolts, Seacoast, or Revs Academy teams when they are 16 or 18, than they will be playing for an Academy team associated with Stars/NEFC/MPS/some other local club.

I don't have any boys still playing youth soccer but if I did, the Bolts would be my first choice for the pre-Academy age groups since playing for them as a UYounger has to give your kid a leg up to make their Academy teams.

Not quite. You should look at the number of players who were on the team last year (that were with the club for the previous 3 or 4 ) that are no longer on the team.
