    If you've got to yell, something is wrong. At this age, let them play, make mistakes and have fun. Reigning in the parents is really the key, then the coach has a fighting change of making a few points throughout the game in relative peace and silence where s/he doesn't have to yell and can make his/her point on the field. Unfortunately, this rarely happens.

He was horrendous to the kids while they were on the field. After the game he would meet with his team and just tell certain ones that they had to come to the next practice. I don't know how the parents allowed their children to be berated like that.
            Was he wearing flip-flops in the middle of winter?

              Would have only seen him in the fall and/or spring. I think someone asked if the team he coached were FH and I believe so. There were two fields as I recall. One upper and one lower. We played on the lower.

                That describes Bowden field. It also describes the coaching style of many of the original Hamlet coaches.
