It makes sense for the two clubs if the egos can be put aside. It would create region one dominanace and give Mass a true shot at a ntional champion if this were to happen. Not to mention it would put a major road block into NEFC's idea of domination. Everyone not associated with NEFC wants to see them fail.

They want to see it fail because of how they went about business.

The boys side will be one of parity, and a continued slipping of Bolts as they move their resources and priorities from the younger age groups to their Academy program. I think eventually this will be their undoing.

If anyone in Massachusetts is praying that the DAP will not expand further in New England, it's the Bolts. Without their pipeline of players into the Academy age groups they are going to struggle mightily to maintain it.
sounds like your kid did not make the Bolts. They have the top Academy program in NE, yes, currently better than the Rev's. And correct, there will be no more DAP club's in NE for at least several years, so I do not see the Bolts unraveling at all, simply spending more of their resources on DAP, which is where they should concentrate, instead of meaningless U12 Maple games.

They already were two of the club dominating the region.

maybe, maybe not. I personally doubt it. But don't tie that thesis to the Bolts falling apart, because it is not happening, as much as you wish it were.

Exactly so if you combine them then there are potentially a national power year after year.

They need one another to get better. Once they are under the same umbrella, the motivation is gone.

The possibility of a third DAP team is an interesting possibility on the boys' side. NEFC apparently wants in, and I could imagine the Blazers or MPS wanting in also. But how realistic is this possibility? The DAP club application says that the USSF evaluates applications on the following:

                        1. National Team Coach Analysis
                        2. History of Elite Youth Player Development
                        3. History of Success in Elite Competitions
                        4. Geography
                        5. Impact on Existing Academy Members

The application specifically asks for lists of national team, professional, and college players developed by the club, as well as the coaching credentials of the proposed DAP U16 and 18 teams.

Now obviously these 5 criteria aren't always satisfied, or the Revs Academy wouldn't have been accepted. But I think any MLS academy is a special case that will always result in admission. So, if these criteria get taken seriously, do NEFC, Blazers, or MPS have what it takes? For whatever it's worth, the Bolts had a reasonable case when they were admitted, having won numerous state titles and even a national championship along with alumni who included national team, professional and D1 college players.

I think it may be a tall order for NEFC, Blazers, or MPS to get in. Even if they have the club record to satisfy the USSF, the USSF has to wonder if the talent pool in Eastern Mass. can support 3 (or more) DAP programs.

They dont need to tie it with the Bolts.
