    What a nitwit!!!
Neither position is considered the premier position. Kids at this age should be moved around the field to play all positions....even goalie from time to time. Pinning one kid as the goalie, defense, or offense at this age is not optimal for their development. While it might work for the coach who is less concerned with development, those kids will lose out.

#1- Make sure your kid is happy
#2- Make sure you aren't driving more than 1/2 hour to practice venue
#3- Make sure your kid plays a lot.
#4- Make sure that they work on foot skills at practice - like Coerver drills
#5- Make sure you kid isn't stuck playing defense ALL the time
#6- Make sure that winning isn't everything for the coach
#7- Make sure that the team managers kid doesn't play the same poition that your kid likes
        #8- ?
#8-Make sure that the team has at least 3 or 4 GKs rotating half a game.

        Pretty good list BTW.
