Do you really think that this 5 team system at this level will work in 1 division. It is human nature to think that your kid deserves to be on the better team, that being said what do you think will happen at tryouts in June when all these parents have all seen all these teams and played against them. It will be a great accomplishment for NEFC to hold this together. I think that the parents will start to see right through that " It's all about the developement" line of bs they are going to get fed. Do the math, they have more girls at 1 age group than most have on the girls side, don't you think that some of the B or C players are going elsewhere to play on the A-team next year. Good luck trying to keep that together.
One good thing about having 5 NEFC teams in the same division is that someone has to lose (or at least tie) when they play each other. unless of course MAPLE rigs the schedule so the NEFC teams play each other as little as possible.
Question: How is it that two U11 NEFC teams that were in the U11g orange division in the fall didnt play each other?? Why is a U10 NEFC team allowed to play up in U11?? Why was that same U10 team and the U11 NEFC vipers put in a separate division in the fall from the other two south shore NEFC teams?
Answer: So they didnt have to play each other! If they had to play each other, then some of those teams would have had a loss or tie instead of a win, and not all 5 teams would have qualified for the blue division.
NEFC must have strong friends at MAPLE. Hopefully there is a lot of turmoil at their tryouts in June.

The league recognizes that most clubs don't want their multiple teams per age group playing one another during the league. If you look at the history of the league, most often clubs with multiple teams have them split. Look at Scorpions, Stars or South Shore Select in the same age division.
It's easier with the Eastern Mass divisions. In Western Mass you usually only have one section, so harder to split the teams.
Orange had a large division. So not every team played every other team. If you were a league director, what decision would you make? Of COURSE the two teams from the same club didn't play one another.
And clubs have had teams play up for years.
Get off your anti-NEFC rant.

I'm not saying that most people would love the fact that there are so many NEFC teams in one division. I'm saying that given "X" number of applications to a league structured like MAPLE, in this case 9 from one club, in four separate geographies, any logical person would separate them so that teams from the same club wouldn't have to play one another.
The same would be true of a tournament. You'd group the teams so that the teams from the same club could avoid one another.
That's just the way most people would do it and it's the way MAPLE did it.
I'm sure the Stars are happy their top team, U10 team, and second teams were all separate in the league. So am I certain that South Shore Select and Scorpions are happy that their teams were separated.
It's just the nature of clubs with more than one team.

Who cares if they played up (U10)? Good for them. I have bashed on NEFC in the past but give me a break. On a side note the President of the league was or still is part of the NEFC board which should be a neutral party.
