With the United 17s, it might be easier to say how many players were NOT an all star for their HS team. Sounds like pretty much all of them were (even their subs). Very impressive.

At least 5 players from Stars were CMASS All Stars. One of those was all NE and another one All State

What's the point you're trying to make? I'm assuming that United had more HS all stars than Rovers given their depth of talent. What about Scorps, Stars U18, etc.?

Honestly who cares? Just let them continue on with their club season. High school soccer is over. Let it rest in peace.

do you really think the college coaches take much from the HS season?
come on, club is where they are seeing these players.
Especially the high level talent, the college coaches aren't coming to the HS games?
                  give me a break!

I believe there is a lot of truth in what you say. However, look at the HS All Star teams from a different point of view. IF I was a college coach, I might wonder about a kid who did NOT make an All Star team. When sifting through resumes, would a kid who can't make a big impact on their HS team make a big impact on my college team? Being on an all star team tends to validate my impression of a player (if it's positive) at least at some level. I'm guessing that at low level D1 and D3 teams it's a factor. I've seen coaches proclaim that "we are interested in recruiting players at the "all state level". I assume they don't mean ODP (but they might).

The facts bear this out. All of the top players in the state are on at least one all star team, most are on several. In the end there are a lot of factors involved in the college recruiting process and while being named to a HS all star team won't by itself make you a top flight recruit, it's got to be a factor (albeit a small one in many instance) in the process.

                      Thoughts?

So if a player is hurt for the better part of the year or is victim to politics [which we all know happens], how does one deal with that?

I think you unfortunately are probably correct. These all-star designations are resume-builders, and the resumes will matter a lot to some college coaches (and those around a kid who could promote their cause like his/her h.s. coach and opposing coaches). Some might only be into themes such as only taking regional level ODP players or higher, and some might be into high school all-state or all-new england. The kids who are on all the lists don't have to worry. And I think you're correct that being left off the lists can be more damaging. This is where having a clueless high school coach can be really damaging and/or the type of coach who has some thing about rewarding seniors or offensive players over defensive players. I'm guessing that the lists are picked fairly haphazardly and that's a shame because then maybe a kid does have to explain why they didn't make it.

OR if they are a club coach, lets make sure players from their club get in regardless of ability

Not sure what you're implying but if you're saying that club coaches exagerate the ability of a player to colleges, this doesn't sound like a sustainable strategy for a club/coach.

If you are injured, you can tell the college staff. i'm sure they would understand and factor this in. If it's politics or coaching issues, I'm not sure what you could do.
