I asked a few HS coaches how these awards are selected, and none were sure. Surprising.

where are the selections posted / published?

EMGSCA met Sunday morning. If the coach did not know tell him to get on the ball because chances are his/her kids did not get recognized. I think it costs $35 to become a member.

So does someone need to know the secret handshake to find out who was selected???

Aren't all-leauge offensive & defensive players of the year, and MVPs selected as well?

Selected by which league? Each league has a different approach to this.

My understanding is that it is the same across all leagues. Not so?

Its no secret. In cmass the leagues pick league all stars at league meeting at end of year. Based upon that league selection coachs or league reps go to coachs meeting for cmass association. Coachs then pick cmass all stars for D 1, 2 and 3. Based upon those selections all state players are picked for D 1, 2, and 3. In cmass only about 25 players are picked for all state from all divisions. Coaches then get together from all divisions and discuss all new England. The all new England is debated with pros and cons of players put forth. Why those selected are not out I do not know but central mass is picked from league all stars to all new England already.

Oh how true a statement because a parent will think their child was over looked or a coach is pissed because one of their players didn't get picked. All three All New England boy picks are right on in my opinion. My child played with all three of them ( Mccaffrey, Gaumond & Lamptey) on Central Mass Bay State team this summer and they were outstanding talented players.

Search Eastern Mass Girls Hs All Star Game from last years thread and it will list last years Eastern Mass All Stars. Not sure about All State or All New England it doesn't specify on that thread.
