    College Coaches

I'm not from Mass but my daughter would like to play college soccer in Mass. She's just starting her search so she really doesn't have her heart set on any one school. I heard that a lot of colleges coaches also coach club teams so I was wondering if I could get some feed back on some of the coaches. I live in CT and we also have a lot of college coaches that coach club and to be honest there are a few that my daughter would never play for.

Having just had a child go through the selection process (male) I think you need to break this down a bit further. There were coaches who were great through the recruiting process (upfront, transparent, and to the best that we could determine honest) who were not the type of game coaches he would prefer to play for. There were generally the types who were going nuts all the time, even when their teams were well ahead and in command of a game. Since he was lucky enough to have a lot of choices, he tended away from that type even though he felt he could cope with it fine if it came down to that being his only or best choice.

The other issue to be aware of is the type who is not being upfront through the recruiting process. That is a whole other story worthy of at least a novella in its own right.......

I don't think in Massachusetts there is the same coaching connection of college to club that you see in Connecticut. Comparing a club like CFC where many of their coaches are coaching college, you just aren't going to find that with clubs like the Scorpions, Stars, MPS or NEFC.

        Good question raised.

Does anyone know of a women's college head coach in Mass who also coaches a club team?

I know there are a few assistant coaches who coach club teams to make a few extra $$ but are there any head coaches?

Nicole Woods at Salem State coaches for Bolts and Tony Mahmoud (sp ?) who also coaches for the Bolts is head coach at Wellesley College. But your top club teams for girls in Mass seem to be coached by other than college coaches.

Interesting. There are quite a few on the men's side that I could tick off but not so many on the women's side. I wonder why?
