How many people care about this game? Let's see -- 18 girls per roster x 2 schools x 2 parents per girl = (err, wait a minute, I'm a stupid public school kid, I need a calculator.......)
Probably an average of 3 parents per kid. Remember, the dads are all remarried to trophy second wives.

But the moms are just sleeping with their drivers. (What school did Jamie McCourt send her kids to?)

Any game reports yet? Or is everyone too busy stopping for dinner at Whole Foods or Blue Ginger (depending on whether you lost or won)?

I'm surprised someone isn't using their blackberry to post the score.

I was at the game. Nobles had more blond wives then Rivers. Nobles 10, Rivers 8.

1-0 Nobles. Good game. Nobles clearly the stronger team, but Rivers is also a good team. The defense for Rivers was very strong, especially the keeper, #2, and #5. Nobles was more dangerous up top, and played a more flowing style. Rivers attack was sort of stuck in their "positions", left, center, right, whereas Nobles attack made more overlapping and diaganol runs. Rivers a bit reliant on long balls, but played a lot of good possession as well. Nobles had more skilled players, more speed through midfield, and every player was aggressive through the ball (Rivers had a few players a bit tentative). Rivers would have benefited from changing to 4-4-2, or at least having wide forwards track back more. Rivers keeper was outstanding, with 2 great saves and solid overall play. Rivers best chance came in the first 20 seconds, otherwise they didn't really test Nobles keeper. Fast paced game - the short field didn't seem to negaitvely impact game, instead it likely made the game that much faster with continual counter-attacks. Fatigue didn't seem to be a factor until the last 5 or so minutes, even though each team seemed to play with perhaps 13 or 14 players. Nobles deserved the victory, but I'm sure they respect the game Rivers played.

Great game. High paced with both teams playing the ball on the ground most of the time. The lone goal was a scramble in front of the goal after a couple of great saves on tough in close shots off a throw in and no clearance by Rivers. Overall the Nobles team had a slight advantage in possession and shots but Rivers made them work hard to earn it. It looked like Rivers would tie it up late in the firt half as the one consistent period of dominence was the last 10 minutes plus of the half by Rivers. Nobles midfield play was the key as expected, with Rivers forwards and backs slightly better than Nobles in those positions.

As expected a classic showdown that looked like a good club game in pace and skill. Hats off to Nobles for a great season. Not as dominent as some people would like to believe, but a great season.

I don't have any "skin in this game" (i.e., I'm not a parent from either team), but how much more dominant can they be? They didn't lose one game this season and they had a 51 goal differential.

Yes but Rivers had more bald dads.

I think the point that was being made was that Nobles has won the ISL title, but they did not blow through Rivers like many said they would. If you look at goal differentials Rivers and Milton and Brooks have crazy levels of goal differential as well. The Nobles predictions on this thread and earlier ones was that no other school could even make a game of any match-up against their team. So far, four teams have shown they are at the same level although not able to break through - WA 0-0, Rivers 0-1, Andover 0-1 and Governors 0-1. 3 wins and a tie for Nobles in these four games and they are undefeated over two years which is amazing. But they did not dominate every team in ISL and NEPSAC as stated at the start of the season. It has been a great season for several teams.

Agree with the posts---excellent HS game!

Terrific players on both teams: both goalies, who are juniors, and will be back. The center back from Rivers, who I was told was a junior, was excellent. And Nobles outside back was terrific: several times made 1 on 1 stops that completely shut down a Rivers' striker. Speaking a strikers, Rivers small, fast player was good, but Nobles size and speed never let her get going. And Nobles' striker, who was very good, but was better on throw-ins! Her throw-in led to the goal. Rivers center mid was also a strong player as was a Nobles mid. I am not an expert, but I bet of the 22 starters, well over 50% will be playing college soccer somewhere.

And what HS regular season game gets college coaches? Yale, Brown, and BU were there. Congrats to both teams for great seasons and it would not shock me if both make serious runs at their respective NEPSAC tournaments.
