This age is where they all get seperated, what I am saying is that there is alot of money grabbing going on at the expense of the kids. Most of these weaker teams would be better off to develop these kids so they are more competetive instead of putting such an emphasis on games. Do you know that appropriate practice to game ratio for proper developement is 3-5 to 1. The reason why we have so many problems with developing our youth is that more times than not we are playing 3 games to 1 practice. So any Club who is going to offer you 4 times more practices than games probably has the best interest of your kids progress at heart. Good luck finding one.

Soccer 5 days a week for a U10-U11 player is excessive.

If the club and those "u11" players ever decide to play age appropriate and join the current 11 year olds, the Bolts 11 year old team could be a dominate team. It won't happen this spring plus we all know the politics around that one. Anyway, the U11 Bolts team as comprised today is a formitable foe but not dominant. With the addtion of 3-4 strong players, they could be tough to beat in the future. The question is when that future might occur (if ever). I suppose this could be the case for every club but that is what I hear on the sidelines.
Bolts U11s playing up is in the players' best interests, especially with DAP using FIFA birth dates.

Until their teammates and opponents hit puberty

OK but how much pressure is there to make all 4 training sessions?

There is a burnout factor that hits a greater number of kids compared to those who continue at this pace. There is also a benefit in playing other sports or at least get exercise in other ways than soccer. This not only develops the body more completely, but also reduces the burnout factor.

10s are asked to attend a minimum of 1 per week and 11s have to attend twice per week.

Pressure for 10s to join is zero. The message from the coaches is "the more you play, the better you get". No one is pressured into anything. All tournaments and "off-season" events are also non-mandatory. Very low key, but tons of opportunities to play and develop. We love it!

This was our experience as well. No pressure at all at U10 and a great time for the kids.

Why are the BU11 Maple teams for spring 2010 so confusing? 7 teams in green, 2 in purple, most teams not assigned? When does this all shake down and make sense?

MLK Day I am taking my son to the North Shore to play in a small tournament against some very good BU-11 teams. I guess it is OK to put together an invitation only tournament. I don't really know why I am posting this except to ask that why more of these highly competetive small tournaments aren't put together by Clubs that have the facilities? Not to mention the Club that is putting this on is doing it at one of the opponents home facilities. Another thing is that it seams that there should be some kind of winter league or indoor Club soccer set up to get these kids playing competively year round. Nationally it seams as though our state does pretty well, can you imagine if we had the facilities to play all year like most of our competition.

Most Clubs are highly territorial and exposing their kids to the enemy is a big mistake as far as they are concerned. I don't know which Clubs are participating in that tournament but it is nice to see at least some people caring about what really matters. Especially when we are talking about 10-11 year olds.

I thought the point of club soccer was year round training and competition. That sure is what our kids have been doing. They have winter leagues and indoor winter training, two Maple seasons and the state cup, etc, in June. A little down time in the summer then it all starts up again in August. Our state does pretty well because of teams that do year round training.

What I was trying to say is that there is no Club only soccer leagues in the winter and maybe some of the great Clubs like yours should start something.
