The Bolts did not win the Blue division. NEFC did because when you have the same record the 1st tiebreaker is head to head competition and the Bolts lost to NEFC. The second tiebreaker is goal differential and then goals against. The bolts will still be in the Blue division being one of the 2 best 2nd place teams. Points do not matter if you won your division you are in the Blue division.

All this talk about the Blue division is interesting but what I would really like to know is who will be in the Green and how will they pick this division.

At this point, at this age, it is still dvelopmental. 8 v 8 shows this. BUT, the biggest thing that people should be looking at is to make sure the opponents are competitive. You would think that having large blow outs is counter productive to the development of these kids.

11 years old kids are still developing and the teams that have gotten a few of the "developed" players will excel because their athletic skills are far superior than other boys their age. Some teams will excel at this age because of their style, Kick and run being one, allows them to put these athletic kids in a situation where they can "outrun" the others. While other teams will use a more physical approach to "beat up" their opponent because they can't out run them.

I hope that however they "seed" the boys, be it by formula or by ranking in their brackets that the games become more competitive this spring.

How evenly was the competition distributed among these 6 divisions? Seems like the #1 teams might be significantly weaker in some divs. than the #2's in more competitive groups. Blue certainly will be competitive for spring, but might be more of a stretch for a few of these #1's than they expect.

The Green if picked by points will be Hamlets, Stars, and Benfica all with 22 points. Aztecs,Abbey Villa, and Scorpions with 21 points. East Greenwich with 20 and Gallway Rovers with 19 and having the best GD of the 19 point getters.

I think that the Blue division this Spring might be one of the best Maple has seen. I have witnessed alot of the teams in this Blue division and think that there will not be an easy game no matter which team you are.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that there was only 1 undefeated team in all 6 divisions. Or at least a team good enough to tie the #1. That leads me to believe that there was at least some good competition for the#1's in every group.

Which of the #1's do you think this will be a stretch for?

My sons team had to play against the Viking team and I assure you these guys are no joke. As far as the Arlington team, Q probably has the best team in this division as it stands right now and he sponsors almost all the players in his club, he is able to recruit the best talent around. I don't know which team you are from but I would not go to sleep on either of the teams you mentioned. Have you ever looked at the standings for the BU-12 Blue division or notice that the only team to ever beat the SF Vikings in league play ever was a couple weeks ago by Arlington. Also the only team to ever beat Q's sons team the undefeated ,call it his#1 team, is you guessed it SF Vikings last year. So you probably could have picked out some other teams as your choices but would have been much better off not saying anything because there is not 1 team in the Blue division right now that I would bet on, and I at least have seen most of them play.

Of course, their coach is a class act, so they didn't run up the score against the weaker teams like the other two strong teams in Blue. Behaves like a grown up on the sidelines as well. He's teaching sportsmanship as well as soccer. It can be done.
Post #71 says Bolts 10-1 against Stars, does anyone see the irony in the above quote?
I think we have another Bolts parent that thinks because they pay the most money they are on the best team.

I was at that last Bolts game. The goalie was on the field for the end of the game. Kids were too cranked after playing so horribly against NEFC the previous game to win graciously.
I do think Blue will be terrific in the spring. Winning at this age should come second to improving, but try telling that to a bunch of 10 year olds.(and their parents) If our team wants to win they will have to keep getting better since they are not a big team. Not sure about the rest of the teams. Should be a good spring!

Give me a break, if the coach can't control the kids and ask them to win graciously then he's not the person described int eh posts about teaching good sportsmanship. You can win 10-1 or you can be gracious and sportsmanlike, but you can't have it both ways.

Guess your kid's team hasn't had that option lately or you'd get it. No worries. Fall U11 is ugly. Spring U11 makes sense. Doesn't mean it will get easier, just that the whole experience starts to feel constructive. Unless you've got a dad on the sidelines who's a jerk. There's no good season for them.

Had the option and watched my kids coach pull a kid off the field after he scored making it 8-0. They were allowed to score via header or after 4 passes and shooting with their "off" foot. He just took the ball and scored. Granted this is not ideal, and I am not a big fan of playing keep away when ahead, but I think all the kids learned a little that day. Hopefully having seeded divisions will make this scenario less likely.
