I saw the Stars v PDA game at U11, what a game. Great skill level for that age group. Just wish my daughters team could play like that. I saw that the Stars DOC was coaching the U11s this weekend is he the coach of the team?. I saw them play another team and he made the team pass back to the GK when the teams attack broke down to start another attack. Quite impresive really.

My two teams played at Seacoast. We had been to WAGS the last two years and like everyone else been seriously adversely affected by the weather and the WAGS tournaments negligence.
Seacoast was excellent. It was very well managed. Fields were good. Competition was very good. Referees were personable and decent. Games ran on time.
Kind of a weird thing that they dont post scores (but evidently do declare a champion?) but whatever... good experience. No more WAGS.

WAGS is too much travel and expense for too little payoff. There are plenty of fresh and decent teams laying around in NE to play in local tournaments and the weather is decent enuough. I agree stay close and play Seacoast.

In order to keep up the top teams in Mass. do have to travel at times to play the cream of Region 1 and beyond. In terms of the competition level WAGS is (was) the closest opportunity to play a National level tournament. Because of their mismanagement they have lost the participation of clubs that dont trust them any longer.
For the top few teams in Mass there arent plenty of fresh teams to compete against. There are only a few. Less travel/better available competition is (to me at least) the primary advantage that clubs in the more southern parts of Region 1 have.

With Seacoast Columbus Day weekend, Scorpion Bowl in March and Stars Labor Day tournament looks like we are moving in the right direction. All 3 tournaments should provide good competition. I believe Stars, PDA and Seacoast have said they will have teams participate in each others events over the next year.

Lets see . . . Div. 1/Blue Div. MAPLE, Seacoast, the top 2 or three teams in CT, pull in ateam or two from NY or NJ . . . that's not enough to keep the Scorp girls sharp pending their winter travels?

I wasnt talking specifically about any particular team or club. I am saying that top level teams need to compete against other top level teams to develop and keep improving. That plus how many times can the top teams play against each other without the games losing some of the edge?
