'Pointless discussion' is right. One of you has been complaining how unfair it is that some teams might have to play an extra game in the playoffs and, as a result, the best team doesn't always win. Sounds like an excuse from the losing club to me. Pointless discussion. You were right about that...

I happen to know that the quality of players on last year's Bromfield team was much better than H-W even though Bromfield had less boys in the school to choose from. Who knows with a NCAA tournament set up maybe the final would have been between Bromfield and Douglas.
How are the Bromfield boys doing this season? If I remember correctly, they were the D3 champ the previous year as well, any chance of a 3peat? I think this is the HS for Harvard MA, small town in the apple belt in eastern Worcester co, is that right? My son played against a really good District Select side with some boys from that area a couple of years ago. What clubs do those guys play for?

Anyway, good luck to all in the states!

I remembered last year's H-W team as pretty good too! Cape Ann League Small winners, two or three Aztec players, good attack.

Bromfield doesn't seem up to par this fall.

Bromfield is 7-3-1 this year and will compete for the central Mass D3 district title.

On just the girls side, the differences favor the east.

              North - 3
              South - 3
              Central - 2
              West - 1

So in the last three years, 6 of 9 champions came out of the East. In the last two it has been 5 out of 6, with 'Chaug being the only champion from the West or Central.

I was not complaining. The team won it in '06 and went to the North finals last year. It does not change the fact that the current set up of the tournament is biased PERIOD. The distribution of the state champions would be very different if it was a NCAA style tournament. MIAA could also do a better job of the divisions. The pointless part is MIAA will not change.

If you think playing an extra game or two does not make a difference....I have some "beach" property I would love to sell to you.

if you think having 2 or 3 times as many players in your school to choose from does not make a difference you are an idiot.

                      SJP Enrollment: 1,250 boys
                      SJS Enrollment: 964 boys

Based on enrollment size, score should have been SJP 4 - SJS 3.

Must have been the PGs that won the game for them. ;)
