    NH Classics building new fields

This was taken off the GSYSL website...

"Last week, Bedford Soccer (NH Classics) signed a purchase and sales agreement with owner Gulfstream Investments to purchase an abutting twelve-acre parcel of land to the Back River Road fields. The Club will develop the land to supplement established game fields at this site.

This is a terrific opportunity, through private development, to help alleviate field space concerns in the town of Bedford. Bedford Soccer is seeking to establish more rectangular green space to support its growing soccer program, as well as supplement the already strained and over-utilized Bedford community fields.

Bedford Soccer will finance the purchase and development of this newly acquired land through local community support, donations, and a traditional mortgage-based fee arrangement.

Bedford Soccer does not anticipate breaking ground for development until Spring 2008.
If you would like to learn more about this opportunity or help in any manner, please contact Board members through bedfordnhsoccer@comcast.net."

Are these going to be turf fields??

Let's see what the NIMBY's, Zoning Commissions, Planning Boards, Land Use Boards, and Enviros have to say about this. I will eat my hat if ground breaking occurs in Spring of 2008. It will take at least a year to get approvals. Bedford ain't Epping.

True but the demographics for Bedford compared to Epping would suggest that it is more likely that there will be small but vocal resistance to a large facility.

Ah, a blast from the past. Makes me wonder how the statewide search that the top clubs say they are going on every year, (right before they take your dough) is going on.

Translation on the post above? ^^^ What the heck does that mean?

The fields will get built eventually. The land is under high power lines and neighbors are few so I don't see why there would be much town opposition. Green fields would actually be a vast improvement over the scrub that is there now.
