'07 High School Soccer #2

Tomorrow A-B v. Newton South girls at Newton. Should be a test for both since they've both had their share of easier DCL games at this point. Both beat Wayland. A-B beat Westford and Tyngsborough and N-S beat Weston and Bo-Lat.

Newton South is going to have an uphill battle against A-B. A-B has a lot of depth and talent and has yet to give up a goal this season.

AB 4 - Newton South 0. Depth probably made a difference - All AB girls got to play a lot. Not as sharp as they were against Westford but still a W.

It wasn't depth that beat NS, it was AB's starting group. They are in a different class. I thought our girls matched up well against the alternate players AB subbed in. AB was the best team we played this year and was impressive. Congradulations. Maybe the next time we play AB it will be a tighter outcome.

When a team can feel free to put in subs that match up well with the opponent's starters, then that is depth working to your advantage.

Was that the case? Or was it subs vs subs?

LS-AB girls play tomorrow at 4 pm at Leary field in Acton. Another big DCL rivalry due to proximity and with lots of history. Could be more competitive (LS beat Newton South 2-0 but was beaten by Westford 3-2)? LS may have an advantage over Westford in playing against AB at home because they regularly play on their own field turf.

Yup that's accurate. It was hot and both teams were moving very slowly. AB scored both goals early and LS had three good chances and capitalized on one. Had one off the post second half that could have easily gone in. AB held on to the lead and had the advantage of possession most of the game.

Refs were very interested in shinpads and mouthguards but neglected to make calls for persistant infringement or hip checks. It's a wonder no one was hurt.

I saw the game, too. Agree with most of the above (particularly the comment about the refs) but think LS controlled the second half. AB was definitely a bit flustered since they weren't used to close games. In my opinion, AB had the more talented players and better skills. LS showed more heart. It's the kind of game that will bring the LS girls even closer together as a team. They were the clear underdog to the #2 nationally ranked team (according to the AB web site) and held their own.

All of the girls on both teams deserve a lot of credit for going all out in such heat. It was a great game.

ACTON-BOXBORO 2, LINCOLN-SUDBURY 1: Sophomore Katie Sisk scored unassisted in the game's 30th minute to give Lincoln-Sudbury the distinction of being the first team to score on powerhouse Acton-Boxboro this season, but it wasn't enough as the undefeated Colonials (6-0) topped the Warriors (4-2) in Dual County League action.

A-B took a 2-0 lead when Hayley Brock scored from Cassie Wagner in the 4th minute and Charlotte Davis scored from Brock in the 22nd minutes.

I agree stating you are Nationally ranked when you do not even compete with other high schools out of your state on the east coast never mind the nation is ridiculous. It is the society we live in tough, just look at the champions of Major League baseball and Pro Football they are crowned world champions??? I did not see Chelsea being crowned world champions when they won the EPL last year. Only in America!!!!!!!
