How is this program worth the time or money? The coaches are mediocre and subpar, the players are RL players at best and it shows everytime they play other states. Slow play, not competitive at all. It seems parents who love high school soccer really love this program. Good for them but please don't try to convince others that this is elite competition.

It looks like they are desperate for players again. The ones who do participate don't seem to be getting better, at all.

Are they still trying to recruit coaches? Is Steve Knapman still in charge. I know he always has Potomac coaches on the boys side, but who are they hiring on the girls side this season?

ODP is not there to make your player better. That's the purpose of your team. ODP is to identify which player can move through the process to make it to the National Pool. I do think ODP needs to better job of motivating players meaning if a player can dominate his age group they should play or at least train with the next oldest age group. Also I don't think if a player makes it to the Regional or National pool they should have to start the process all over again and certainly not have to pay for the first round of tryouts.

OPD is a fine program if you know what it is, and are you are NOT a trainer from a big club that is losing money because kids are joining ODP instead of leaving their local club. It is a nice addition to a player that wants stay with their friends and also play with a better group of players but does not want the crazy travel of a low level ECNL or ECRL teams just to play mediocre teams. It gives you a little taste of the travel. The large clubs hate it because these are the same kids that are borderline leaving their local teams and joining a B or C teams somewhere else, so the clubs are losing money. My daughter did it for a couple of years and really enjoyed it. Worth the money? I guess it is as worth as much as this other stuff is.
