Its also funny that cons claim tens of thousands of sick migrants are coming across the border when almost all of them who are caught are 1) sent back right away 2) if they're eligible to be released in the US they are tested first and held if positive 3) if being sent back by any they are tested and held. If they have been held for anything more than a day (which is likely) it's not at all surprising that they're catching Covid inside holding facilities.

If they are released into the US they get tested. If they test positive they have to stay until they test negative. While in custody they can request a test or are tested if they are showing symptoms. DHS is making plans to offer the J&J vaccine to anyone at the border that wants it. It wasn't just that Americans are screaming for it and going against it was a losing strategy - McConnell went against Trump on that one. Several of Trump's approved candidates haven't fared well in primaries. Even though TX and FL governors are all-in on Trump-style leadership, several other red state governors are changing course on covid as their states suffer the worst surges ever.

Trump's supposed grip over the GQP is slowly eroding. Of course, had the GOP stood up to him five years ago they wouldn't be in the mess they're in now.
