They believe the Republican Party Represents their message they also see the Republican Party looking like them by being predominantly all white.
Donald Trump being President has allowed Republican voters to come out of hiding and speak up About their hateful agenda which explains the spike in racial tension.
The Charlottesville rally was a true reckoning of exposure and truth.

Very few Republicans supporters will denounce these hate groups instead Most have stayed silent and supported them quietly.

Because even if GOP politicians aren't outright racists themselves (tough to get away with at the national level, scum like Steve King aside) they certainly are willing to look away. Their condemnations when something egregious happens are empty and not heart felt. Worse is they don't call Trump out. They can't afford to anger him or his base.
