A group of prominent Republican-leaning economists, coordinating with Republican lawmakers and political strategists, is launching a campaign this week calling on Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke to drop his plan to buy $600 billion in additional U.S. Treasury bonds.

On CNN Monday, Surgeon General Jerome Adams directly contradicted the remarks of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), who suggested people could just ignore the pandemic and go out to eat at restaurants.

“We’re not going to solve this problem from Atlanta at the CDC, or the federal government,” said Adams. “It’s going to be solved at the community level, and we need everyone to do their part and get serious about social distancing.”

(March 16): President Donald Trump said Americans should buy fewer groceries as retailers struggle to keep food and other products in stock because of concern over the spread of coronavirus.

“There’s no need for anybody in the country to hoard essential food supplies,” Trump told reporters Sunday at the White House. “You don’t have to buy the quantities because it’s hard to refill the stores.”

Trump added: “Relax. We’re doing great. It all will pass.”

Even hinting at food shortages will create a panic you have never imagined.

Donnie showed us all his contempt for us yesterday. He strode out in front of this people “props” on stage - Trump NEVER stands alone in front of a microphone when things aren’t going well.....

He started off with his “big” news about the Fed rate cut....bragged about how much Wall St would love that and pointed at markets bumping up some after he appeared recently and claimed implied Markets would rise after the rate cut. Instead down like an anvil ....

But he bragged and bragged about the rate cut, the pivoted to issues about testing and the safety net, then returned to the rate cut for a while before sulking out like a child without answering any questions, leaving Pence , Birx, Fauci et al to deal with the questions.

He really “gets” the science though

I disagree with Pence about just about all policy issues but he looks like a far more functional human being than Trump right now.

He sure took credit for it even some of it had nothing to do with him. Now that it's in the shi**er he will never, ever take responsibility. I'm no fan of Pence's and half of what he says is about sucking DJT's insecure co ck. But he certainly sounds more competent and seems to be listening to advisors. If Pence were left to run things, without Trump's oversight and public BJ's, Pence might do a half way decent job because he knows it would be his chance at being president one day

It’s time to let the smokestack industries DIE and use resources to help people and put us on a more sustainable path where we spend our money on protecting people from real threats like communicable disease rather than 700 billion + for an arsenal to defend us against dirty Muslims

No one suggested “canning” the military but 700 + plus billion every year vs 1.2 or 1.6 billion for CDC?

As far as the power going off .....isn’t the price of oil and hydrocarbons at a low due to abundant supply from Saudi Arabia and Russia? They have flooded the market and we can’t compete on price so it’s time to let our DOMESTIC shale oil business DIE and put the money we used to price support a sector that can’t make it on its own to encourage more renewable capacity.
